Job Summary

Job Description

Join Pipeworks Studios as a Level Designer I to build the first playable foundations of a multiplayer extraction shooter. You'll collaborate with leads and partners in systems, AI, art, and narrative to create gameplay-rich POIs and map sections. The role emphasizes risk/reward exploration, readable combat spaces, and dynamic PvEvP encounters, contributing to a core game experience.
Must have:
  • Support the Lead Level Designer in designing, prototyping, and iterating on POIs and map sections from greybox to first playable.
  • Build clean layouts, sightlines, cover, lanes, and traversal with a focus on player options and encounter flow.
  • Implement basic Blueprint logic (spawns, objectives, triggers, extraction points) and integrate AI/navmesh and loot/objective hooks.
  • Collaborate with systems, AI, and art/worldbuilding to maintain readability, pacing, and environmental storytelling.
  • Participate in playtests, capture feedback, triage bugs in Jira, and iterate quickly to improve feel and clarity.
  • Maintain clear documentation (callouts, flows, encounter notes) and good map hygiene (naming/layers/world partition practices).
  • Practical experience with UE5 level tools and Blueprint fundamentals; able to implement simple encounter scripting.
  • Understanding of extraction shooter loops (risk vs. reward, pathing, third-party pressure, extraction timing) and competitive FPS readability.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and iteration mindset.
  • Comfort working across global time zones.
  • Familiarity with basic AI placement, nav, and spawn/encounter setup.
  • 3+ years of professional level design experience
  • Contributions to at least one shipped title

Job Details

Join Pipeworks Studios as a Level Designer I and help build the first playable foundations of a multiplayer extraction shooter. You’ll collaborate closely with your Level Design Lead and systems, AI, art, and narrative partners to create gameplay-rich POIs and map sections that emphasize risk/reward exploration, readable combat spaces, and dynamic PvEvP encounters.

Our studio is based in Eugene, OR and this role is available for fully remote, hybrid, or fully in-office work.

Key Responsibilities

Day to Day

  • Support the Lead Level Designer in designing, prototyping, and iterating on POIs and map sections from greybox to first playable.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Must Haves
