Lead a team enabling Copilot's use of enterprise assets in SharePoint and third-party Digital Asset Libraries. Collaborate with partner teams (ODSP, Substrate, OAI) to allow Copilot and PowerPoint to find and add content. Responsibilities include guiding partnerships with stakeholders, developing design documents, optimizing code, driving project plans, acting as DRI, monitoring systems, leading product development and scaling, and leading technical solutions. The role requires hands-on coding, code reviews, and debugging. This position offers the opportunity to work with LLMs, semantic search, AugLoop, and the Microsoft Graph. Partial work from home is possible.
Must have:
  • 6+ years technical engineering experience
  • Coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • 4+ years people management experience
  • Lead technical solutions and be hands-on with code
  • Guide teams and stakeholders
  • Drive project plans and work items
Good to have:

As a Principal Software Engineering Manager in PowerPoint, you will lead a team to enable Copilot’s use of enterprise assets in SharePoint and in third-party Digital Asset Libraries. You will collaborate with many partner teams including ODSP, Substrate and OAI to allow Copilot and PowerPoint to find and add this content.  This opportunity will allow you to learn, or deepen your knowledge in LLM grounding, semantic search, AugLoop, the Microsoft Graph, and more. You will refine your skills in working with partner teams across Microsoft and ship user-facing features to millions of people. Partial work from home is possible for this role.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python 
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python 
    • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 4+ years people management experience

 

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $135,800 - CAD $253,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Guides partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within and across teams. 
  • Guides teams and leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform. 
  • Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI). 
  • Guides team to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers). 
  • Guides team and acts as an expert for Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitors other engineers across product lines, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions. 
  • Leads product development and scaling to customer requirements and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and holds accountability for products that do not meet expectations. 
  • Leads technical solutions and is hands-on with code, code reviews and debugging issues.
