Job Description

As Principal Technical Producer, Platform Services at Second Dinner, you'll oversee the end-to-end delivery and operation of platform services. You will collaborate with various teams to identify feature requirements, break down complex projects, evaluate vendor solutions, and develop a roadmap. Responsibilities include coordinating with partner teams, prioritizing projects, driving development of platform roadmaps, establishing live workflows, defining SLAs, creating operational runbooks, defining release cadences, and tracking organizational costs. You will ensure sustainable team pace and continuous improvement, handling tasks such as bug assignment and running retrospectives. This role requires experience operating live games or platforms supporting them, managing technical stakeholders, understanding mobile game features, distributed services, and strong communication skills. A passion for making great games is essential.

Our Platform Services Team

At Second Dinner, platform services are the backbone of our ability to deliver robust and seamless game experiences to millions of players worldwide. The Platform Services team builds and maintains infrastructure so game teams can focus on crafting the most fun and engaging player experiences possible! By ensuring a secure and robust technology backbone, we lay the foundation that enables player experience and trust for critical services such as managing accounts and in-app-purchases.

Your Role

You will report to the Head of Platform Technology, responsible for delivering critical platform features for Marvel SNAP and evolving R&D projects. You will collaborate across multiple disciplines and teams to identify feature requirements, break down complex technical projects, evaluate vendor solutions, and craft a roadmap that the platform and game teams are aligned on.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery and operation of platform services at Second Dinner

  • Coordinate with partner teams to identify new features and opportunities

  • Work with platform developers to prioritize and break down complex projects into tangible deliverables

  • Drive the development of and the evangelization of a roadmap for the platform team

  • Work with platform, studio, and game team leaders to align on a vision for the platform

  • Establish centralized processes for live workflows such as App and IAP submission

  • Define SLAs, create operational runbooks, and document best practices befitting a world-class service

  • Define a release cadence and process for platform technology

  • Work with the Head of Platform Technology to build a method for tracking and attributing organizational costs

  • Proactively identify and mitigate bottlenecks to keep the team running smoothly

  • Ensure the team works at a sustainable pace and continuously improves

  • Production nuts and bolts: task tracking, bug assignment, running retrospectives, running meetings 

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience operating a live game or a platform service in support of a live game

  • Experience managing relationships with technical stakeholders, both internal and external

  • Familiarity with common online features and functionality of mobile games

  • An understanding of distributed services and scalability

  • High levels of empathy and support for team members

  • Excellent and flexible communication skills whether in person, over Zoom, or in writing

  • Passion for reducing uncertainty in ambiguous areas

  • Love for playing and making great games!

Nice to Have But Not Necessary:

  • Experience with mobile submissions processes for builds and IAP

  • Experience with Unity

  • Experience with AWS

The total compensation for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $205,000 to $250,000 USD + equity + comprehensive benefits + potential for discretionary performance bonuses.

Individual pay within this salary range may span multiple levels within the discipline and is determined by assessed job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training. It also factors in market demands and business needs. The disclosed range is not adjusted based on location and may be subject to change or modification based on business needs in the future. Your recruiter can answer any questions about new hire total compensation during the hiring process.
