Position at DNEG

The Production Coordinator is responsible for the smooth running of the show by proactively communicating with their artists, tracking tasks and relaying status updates to the production and supervision team.

They are responsible for the artists assigned to them by ensuring  artists' daily and weekly scheduled tasks are communicated, allocated, accurate and achievable. They are expected to actively facilitate  the flow of information upstream and downstream between departments. This role requires  them to be ever vigilant  in maintaining production databases with accurate tasks, stages, elements, shot status and notes. They will coordinate  dailies, take detailed notes ensuring the flow of materials to and from the client.

Key Responsibilities 
Rounds:
  • Lead daily rounds to assign and track tasks in Shotgrid (SG).
  • Communicate with artists about progress, task status, and notes.
  • Identify roadblocks and take action by notifying supervisors and production teams.
Dailies:
  • Attend dailies, introduce version details, and track progress.
  • Take concise notes in SG, organise playlists for client sends, and prep for client reviews.
Good to Go:
  • Keep track of tasks, elements, and shots needed for upstream and downstream departments.
  • Coordinate with other Production Coordinators to ensure smooth transitions between departments.
  • Send “Good to Go” emails to allow approved work to be picked up by other departments.
Scheduling in SG:
  • Work with department supervisors to assign tasks based on skill and availability.
  • Schedule and track task progression in SG for at least two weeks in advance.
  • Keep Shotgrid (SG) accurate and up to date.
Targets:
  • Collaborate with the Line Producer and Senior Production Manager (SPM) to meet daily and weekly targets.
  • Flag risks to meeting targets and attend target meetings to track priorities and updates.
  • Inform stakeholders of schedule changes via SG, email, or instant messaging.
Cross-Site Communication:
  • Regularly communicate across different sites with production counterparts and artists.
  • Provide updates, inquire about progress, and help problem-solve pipeline obstacles through calls, emails, and messaging.
Client Production Support:
  • Step in for the PA when needed to coordinate client deliveries and log them.
  • Attend client calls and follow up with supervisors to ensure notes are communicated to the right departments.
Administrative Support:
  • Provide administrative support to the production management team and department supervisors as needed.

 

Must Haves
  • Experience at a VFX studio as a Production Coordinator.
  • Strong vocal and written communicator.
  • Proven experience  scheduling, meeting deadlines and adapting to changing timelines.
  • Good knowledge of the VFX Feature Film production pipeline, and the functions of the relevant departments within the pipeline.
  • Experience coordinating and running Dailies.
  • Experience with Google Workspace.
  • Experience in Autodesk Shotgrid/Grid/Flow.
  • Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Aptitude for learning new software and interest in keeping up with the ever changing technological landscape.


Nice to Have
  • HTML / Wiki / Confluence skills
  • Prior experience with Previs / Postvis / Techvis
  • Onset Experience

Please note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.
 
The base salary range for this full-time position is $52,000 to $70,000. DNEG salary ranges are determined by function, department, level and location. An individual's pay within a given range is determined by their transferrable or job-related skills and work experience. Salary ranges are modified from time to time based on external market data collected through our third-party surveys.
