The Design Coordinator supports the Production Designer, Art Director, and Production Manager by creating, managing, and distributing assets in the production pipeline. Responsibilities include conducting asset breakdowns, coordinating design reviews, prioritizing designs, communicating information, managing inventory in Shotgrid, assigning designs, preparing reports, maintaining workflow, and assisting other departments. The role involves liaising between management and creative teams and guiding individuals to the correct departments for information.

SUMMARY:  

The Design Coordinator directly supports the Production Designer, Art Director, and Production Manager in the creation, inventory, and distribution of assets in the production pipeline. The Design Coordinator will also work with leads across multiple departments including, but not limited to, script, story, editorial, design and color.

Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Los Angeles, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct asset breakdowns for scripts, storyboards, and animatics
  • Coordinate and schedule design launches and reviews during each phase of production
  • Work closely with Production Designer, Art Director Producer and Production Manager to prioritize design according to schedule
  • Consistently communicate accurate and timely information to production leadership 
  • Responsible for inventory management of all production assets in Shotgrid
  • Assigning designs and tracking artist progress with Shotgrid and/or associated software
  • Prepare asset status reports for Production Manager and Producer using Shotgrid and associated software
  • Maintain an easily accessible and organized design workflow
  • Maintain organized production and artwork files within existing directory structures
  • Assist other departments as necessary during production which includes, but not limited to, completing expense reports, ordering office supplies, scheduling
  • Liaison between production management and creative teams, fostering trusting and open relationships within productions 
  • Guide internal and external individuals to the appropriate departments for necessary information
  • Special projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous animation office or project experience
  • Knowledge of CG Animation
  • Strong organizational skills, resourcefulness, and diligence, with effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a dynamic production environment
  • Effectively implement direction and demonstrate strong adaptability to evolving workflows and priorities
  • Ability to follow direction as well as take initiative where applicable
  • Able to work independently and set appropriate priorities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Computer and technology literate – familiarity with Mac/PC operating systems, Photoshop, Shotgrid, Google Ecosystem

The anticipated base salary for this position is $25.00/hour to $31.00/hour. This role may also qualify for incentives and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
