Patel, Greene & Associates (PGA) is seeking a motivated Senior Planner to serve as a technical leader and project manager for the Context-Based Design team. This role involves managing planning projects, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to marketing and client presentations. The Senior Planner will apply expertise in multimodal planning, data analysis, and conceptual roadway design across transportation projects, directly impacting safety and mobility in communities. Must have:
  • Serve as Project Manager (PM) and Lead Technical Professional (LTP) on multimodal transportation planning and conceptual design projects
  • Lead planners, designers, and technicians in completing tasks, providing frequent peer reviews
  • Lead technical writing and development of reports and proposals
  • Lead marketing efforts for less complex projects and assist with marketing efforts on larger projects
  • Assist Managers in a variety of project administrative duties
  • Complete tasks and projects within established supervisor’s expectations
  • Participate in relevant training sessions and conferences to stay current with industry developments
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with progressively more complex responsibilities in planning and conceptual design
Good to have:
  • Master’s degree
  • AICP certification
  • Other experience, training, or certification may be considered

Purpose & Need

Patel, Greene & Associates (PGA) is seeking a motivated Senior Planner to serve as a technical leader and project manager to support and grow the Context-Based Design team. This position is available in our Temple Terrace, Carrollwood, Orlando, Bartow, or Sarasota offices. The Senior Planner role involves managing planning projects, providing technical leadership on complex tasks, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to marketing and client presentations. You'll apply your expertise in multimodal planning, data analysis, and conceptual roadway design across a range of transportation projects that directly impact safety and mobility in our communities. What You’ll Do

  • Serve as Project Manager (PM) and Lead Technical Professional (LTP) on a variety of multimodal transportation planning and conceptual design projects
  • Lead planners, designers, and technicians in completing tasks, providing frequent peer reviews on their work
  • Lead technical writing and development of reports and proposals
  • Lead marketing efforts for less complex projects and assist with marketing efforts on larger, more complex projects
  • Assist Managers in a variety of project administrative duties

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field is required. Master’s degree and AICP certification are preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with progressively more complex responsibilities in planning and conceptual design
  • Other experience, training, or certification may be considered

What You'll Bring

  • Knowledge of multimodal transportation planning, land use planning, and conceptual design for pedestrians, bicyclists, trail users and transit riders
  • Knowledge of multimodal traffic data, safety, forecasting, and analysis principles
  • Knowledge of planning principles, policies, laws, and typical demographic data sets
  • Knowledge of public involvement practices, including local government, MPO, PD&E, and NEPA processes
  • Skills to lead teams, build relationships, serve clients, and pursue projects
  • Skills to develop easily understandable and technically accurate conceptual design graphics
  • Skills to interpret and summarize design plans, planning recommendations, and official documents
  • Skills to properly analyze data and make appropriate recommendations
  • Ability to work across disciplines (planning, roadway, traffic, structures, drainage, landscape, etc.) to identify and develop implementable multimodal transportation plans and conceptual designs
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, assign work, and produce high quality deliverables
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on deadline-driven activities
  • Ability to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other standard Office Products
