About the Role:

Are you passionate about game feel and motion? Do you thrive in fine-tuning interactions to reach the "just right" level of quality? Our team is developing a collection of engaging 2D mobile minigames for young kids, focusing on fun interactions, polished mechanics, and delightful player experiences.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Unity 2D Gameplay Engineer to help bring these games to life. You will join a cross-functional team of experts to build and refine gameplay systems that captivate children worldwide.

The Quest: 

  • Develop and refine 2D gameplay mechanics, focusing on game feel and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and engineers to craft smooth, engaging interactions.
  • Implement physics-based animations and motion-driven gameplay.
  • Build 2D UI systems and integrate player-facing elements.
  • Develop Unity editor tools to improve development efficiency and workflows.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate based on player feedback.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and modular code.
  • Ensure optimized performance for mobile platforms.
  • Take ownership of technical challenges and contribute to team-wide improvements.

The Skills: 

  • 6+ years of experience in Unity 2D gameplay development.
  • Expertise in C#, Unity, and code-driven animation techniques.
  • Strong understanding of 2D physics, animation principles, and interaction design.
  • Experience in developing mobile games (iOS/Android).
  • Strong debugging, optimization, and profiling skills.
  • Ability to work closely with designers and artists to bring ideas to life.
  • Experience implementing game UI using uGUI.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Passion for creating high-quality, polished gameplay interactions.
  • Strong ownership and responsibility for delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Willingness to iterate rapidly and respond to player feedback.
  • The ability to take technical ownership and mentor teammates when needed.

Nice to Haves:

  • Background in game jams or indie development.
  • Strong experience with custom code-driven motion.
  • Knowledge of procedural animation techniques.
  • Experience with audio implementation in Unity.

Working Hours:

  • 40 hours per week, with core working hours from 10 AM - 5 PM US Eastern Time Zone.

Language Requirements:

  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Frequent daily communication with native English speakers.
