Job Description

This Software Engineer II position within Google's Engineering Productivity team focuses on developing and maintaining tools and infrastructure for testing and improving product/system testability. Collaboration with engineering teams across the full-stack (client, server, device) is key to aligning strategies and building automation for enhanced product quality. The role involves impacting engineer productivity in the Fitbit Mobile App landscape by providing tools, processes, and guidance for improving app testability and creating automated test cases. Working with test engineers to understand automation needs and build necessary infrastructure is also crucial. The position is located in Bucharest, Romania.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1 year building developer tools (compilers, releases, testing)
  • 1 year experience with data structures or algorithms
  • Software development experience (Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • Develop and maintain testing tools and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across full-stack
Good to have:
  • Experience in developer tooling and infrastructure
  • Experience with Java/Kotlin, Swift, Python
  • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in building developer tools (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in developer tooling and infrastructure, building tools and testing frameworks, test-motivated development, build infrastructure, optimizing software or debugging.
  • Experience with coding in Java/Kotlin, Swift, Python.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain tools and infrastructure software to support testing efforts and to improve the testability of the product and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and work across full-stack (e.g., client, server, device) to align on strategies, and develop tooling and automation to improve product quality.
  • Impact the productivity of engineers working in the Fitbit Mobile App landscape by providing tools, processes and guidance for improving app testability and writing automated test cases.
  • Work with test engineers inside Engineering Productivity to understand the automation needs for certain features and build the appropriate infrastructure.
