*Pay Range: $31.00 - $40.00 CAD hourly


Position Summary:

We currently have an opening for a Systems and Desktop Administrator. This position will be located in Toronto, ON and onsite work is required.

The Systems and Desktop Administrator reports to the Manager of Production Technology.  This position will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting production systems hardware and software related issues.  Beyond desktop administration, this role will focus on systems administration of enterprise and distributed technologies, maintaining/securing/scaling systems infrastructure.  The position also plays an integral role in assuring the artists can work and function on a productive level with minimal downtime due to technical complications.


Main Duties:

The Systems and Desktop Administrator  will deploy and maintain workstations, software, and other infrastructure that runs our operations. They will maintain and ensure compliance with our security policies. They will install, deploy, and maintain all backend systems and software that runs our operations. Other duties include:
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve infrastructure hardware and software issues
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with our security policies. 
  • Identify any risks to production systems integrity and coordinate remediation projects with other team members.
  • Develop and maintain system and data configurations and manage backups of all priority infrastructure and data to ensure efficient and dependable redundancy for all critical production resources.
  • Standardize and optimize workstation, render, and server deployment, and deploy and maintain systems monitoring.

What You Bring:

The ideal candidate will bring previous experience in systems administration.  Extensive prior experience in desktop administration. They will bring a capacity to address a variety of complex problems with clear focus and concise communication while servicing Production needs within a fast-paced dynamic environment. They will bring experience with VFX/Animation pipeline tools and supporting technologies in a studio feature or episodic environment preferred. They will have excellent Customer Service and proven communication skills – must be a team player. Systems engineering experience with IT infrastructure including but not limited to:
 
  • Workstations, laptops, printers, multiple display devices, IP phones, and peripherals.
  • Application servers (hardware, virtual, and hyper-converged infrastructure)
  • Network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, WiFi, VPN)
  • Active Directory and LDAP directory services administration.
  • Windows, OSX, and Linux platforms.
  • Enterprise NAS/SAN data storage systems.
  • Render or grid compute farms (management and deployment)
  • VFX Application (Maya, Nuke, Adobe, VRay and/or other studio software)
  • Editorial technologies (Quantel, Avid, Premier) and other video transport technologies.
  • Scripting capabilities in Bash, Python, and/or C++ are preferred.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
