As an Animation Artist II at Riot Games' Teamfight Tactics team, you'll bring characters and environments to life using classic animation principles. Responsibilities include creating high-quality animations, refining existing animations for new gameplay systems, collaborating with technical artists and engineers for optimization and seamless integration, and troubleshooting animation pipelines. You'll work closely with art, engineering, and technical art teams to adapt and integrate animations into gameplay-ready assets. Success requires a strong foundation in animation principles, proficiency in Maya and modern game engines, and excellent collaboration skills. The role involves adapting legacy and new animations, creating animations tailored to gameplay needs, and reworking existing assets to fit evolving mechanics.

As a member of the Teamfight Tactics team, you will bring characters, environments, and in-game sequences to life through classic animation principles. Work will vary from character and environment animation, adapting existing animations for new gameplay mechanics, updating classic content, to working on innovative explorations for future Teamfight Tactics features. 

As an Animation Artist on TFT you will begin by working directly with our art, engineering, and technical art teams to help adapt and integrate legacy and new animations into gameplay-ready assets while supporting new technical workflows. You will craft animations tailored to gameplay needs and rework existing assets to fit evolving mechanics.

A great reel will showcase a diverse selection of game-related animation, a strong foundation in the principles of animation, and a solid knowledge of animation tools, pipelines, and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Create high quality animations for TFT characters and environments
  • Refine and repurpose classic animations for modern gameplay systems
  • Collaborate with technical artists and engineers to optimize animations for performance and seamless integration
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges in animation pipelines and workflows in partnership with developers

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of game development Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Maya and modern game engines (Unreal, etc)
  • Development experience of Animation Systems (Sequencers, Blueprints, State Machines, in-engine animation and rigging tools, etc)
  • Understand animation principles, and body mechanics, acting, posing, and storytelling techniques
  • Demonstrated excellence in collaboration and communication within cross-disciplinary teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Teamfight Tactics, League of Legends, and Runeterra IP
