Nasdaq seeks an Assistant General Counsel with 4-6 years' experience, preferably at a top law firm or in-house, to draft and negotiate commercial and licensing agreements, provide legal guidance, and represent the company in commercial matters. Must have experience in drafting and negotiating license agreements and strong organizational skills.
Nasdaq’s Legal, Regulatory & Risk group is looking for a talented and energetic lawyer to join our global legal team located in the North America, Europe and Asia and supporting our businesses worldwide.

Your role and responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of senior legal team members, a typical day will include

  • Draft, review, analyze and negotiate a variety of commercial and licensing agreements, including data, content, indexes, technology transactional agreements
  • Work closely with sales, operations and product teams to ensure Company objectives are met
  • Provide legal guidance and support to our internal businesses and operations around the world including licensing, technology and commercial legal advice.
  • Keep up to date and provide guidance on regulations that impact Nasdaq products and services
  • Representing (without close supervision from senior lawyers) the company’s positions in commercial matters.

 

You will need the following skills and experience

  • Law Degree (e.g., in the U.S., the Juris Doctor degree)
  • At least 4-6 years’ experience, preferably at a top law firm and/or in-house
  • Experience drafting and negotiating license agreements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of other disciplines across multiple regions
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and clients

And it would be great if you have experience with

  • Understanding of the legal and business aspects of licensing data, including regulated data, alternative data, indexes, financial information, software and/or technology products and services
  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts for complex commercial transactions
  • The ability to analyze complex contracts and effectively communicate with internal clients
  • Knowledge of intellectual property and data privacy/data security
