Job Description

As a Fibre Quality Specialist for CityFibre, the UK's largest fibre-only network, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the network. This includes diagnosing and resolving faults from the Fibre Exchange to end-user premises. The role requires hands-on experience with fibre, network build, FTTx installation, fibre blowing, and fibre splicing. Key responsibilities include managing network performance, troubleshooting issues like signal loss and physical damage, utilizing diagnostic tools, and performing complex installations and repairs while adhering to safety protocols. The position involves travel and requires a valid UK driving license. Please note this role requires travel, and therefore a fully expensed van is included. Covering Bury St Edmunds, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft & Norwich.

Joining us as a Fibre Quality Specialist

As our Fibre Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of the CityFibre network. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving faults across the network, from the Fibre Exchange to the end-user premises.

This is some of what you can expect to be doing:

  • Leveraging your hands-on experience with fibre, to manage and maintain network performance
  • Diagnosing and resolving network issues, including signal loss and physical damage, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal service
  • Utilising advanced diagnostic tools to assess and troubleshoot network issues efficiently
  • Managing complex installations and repairs, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring tasks are completed promptly on the day of service
  • Adapting to evolving operational needs and diverse working environments, including outdoor installations and network centres, with a readiness to travel when required

What you’ll bring to the role

You'll have a strong background working with fibre, including knowledge of network build, FTTx installation, fibre blowing and fibre splicing. You'll also have:

  • Core network fault finding problem solving skills 
  • Experience of auditing safe systems of works
  • Experience of OTDR / IOLM testing and knowledge of PIA – duct and/or pole installations
  • NRSWA – units 2 and 10
  • SA001 and SA002 Smart Awards
  • Driving licence valid in the UK
