Job Description

The Field Service Technician 2 is responsible for maintaining and repairing client equipment on Cubic maintained assets, ensuring devices are fully functional and meet contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The role involves routine and preventative maintenance, promptly responding to and repairing device faults, and minimizing downtime. Technicians will also attend training, report asset maintenance accurately, and comply with health and safety policies, participating in team meetings and assisting with stock takes as needed. The role offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge transportation technologies and requires adherence to company policies.
Must have:
  • Hands-on experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of working in teams.
  • Mechanical, electrical, or electronic aptitude.
  • Basic network systems knowledge.
  • PC Literate.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
Good to have:
  • Experience of working on SLA-driven contracts.
  • Basic fibre optic experience.
  • Microsoft Office skills.
  • Minor civils experience.

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for providing maintenance and repair of client equipment on Cubic maintained assets, ensuring devices are returned to full service and maintained to the highest possible standard while achieving relevant contractual SLAs.

This position offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of technology within the transportation sector.

With an extensive list of high-profile projects, you will be exposed to all areas of transportation technologies, including the latest innovations in automated fare collection and contactless payments.

Continuous training and guidance will allow you to become a subject matter expert within this sector.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Respond to and repair Cubic device faults promptly and follow defined maintenance procedures to maximise device reliability and availability.
  • Carry out the Minimum Call Procedure (MCP) during any work on Cubic maintained assets.
  • Direct responsibility in minimising contractual downtime on devices
  • Attend training and development courses.
  • To constantly improve performance through training, experience, and KPI feedback
  • Ensure asset maintenance is reported in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure personal administration is completed promptly, including timesheets, Workday items, and vehicle checks.
  • Provide support to the Maintenance Team Leaders and Field Services Managers
  • Ensure all relevant working practices comply with statutory health and safety policies and external customer requirements.
  • Attend and proactively participate in the Maintenance Team meetings.
  • Assist with stock takes when requested.
  • To collect and deliver parts from store locations.
  • Work in a shift pattern.
  • Comply with Cubic’s values and adherence to all company policies and procedures. Code of Conduct, Quality, Security, and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their Line or Department Manager from time to time, as may be reasonably required of them.

Minimum Job Requirements:
 

Skills knowledge and experience:

Essential:

  • Proven hands-on experience in a similar role, including maintenance of equipment.
  • Experience of working in teams.
  • Mechanical, electrical, or electronic aptitude
  • Basic network systems knowledge
  • PC Literate
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • Experience of working on SLA-driven contracts
  • Basic fibre optic experience
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Minor civils experience

Education and qualifications

Essential:

  • HND, C&G or recognised qualification in Electronic or Mechanical engineering

Desirable:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
