IT Software Engineer (SAP Basis Administrator)

Job Summary:

Supports and maintains the technical infrastructure of SAP systems across Cubic’s landscape, including but not limited to ECC, BW, GRC, PI, BPC, BO, Tableau, and Alteryx. Provides technical expertise in the installation, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning of SAP applications and supporting platforms. Identifies, evaluates, and implements system-level changes that are secure, cost-effective, and aligned with business and IT requirements. Performs system maintenance, patching, transport management, and backup activities. Coordinates system upgrades and supports integration between SAP and non-SAP platforms. Ensures system availability and performance across development, quality, and production environments. Partners with functional and technical teams to troubleshoot issues and lead or support infrastructure projects and initiatives. This position typically works under general supervision and direction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform day-to-day administration and technical support for SAP systems, including ECC, BW/BI, GRC, PI/PO, BPC, BO, ME/MII, and associated platforms like Tableau and Alteryx.
• Proactively monitor all SAP systems, HANA databases, and analytics environments (work processes, system logs, short dumps, locks, traces, disk space, CPU, memory usage) for performance, availability, and stability using SAP monitoring tools and third-party solutions.
• Analyze system logs, short dumps, work processes, and performance metrics to identify and resolve issues.
• Monitor HANA database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform tuning across the SAP landscape and HANA database.
• Experience in implementing and managing HANA table management techniques (data compression, partitioning).
• Troubleshoot and resolve HANA database issues.
• Implement performance tuning strategies, including database optimization, buffer tuning, and workload analysis.
• Support SAP technical operations including system monitoring, job scheduling, transport management, client copies, and system refreshes.
• Collaborate with the global SAP Basis team (including external partners) to execute system upgrades, kernel patches, OS patches, enhancement packs, and installation of new components.
• Manage and maintain SAP BW/BI and BPC platform operations, including security authorizations, process chain troubleshooting, solution deployment, and environment stability.
• Administer Business Objects platform: handle installation, upgrades, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Maintain and support a multi-tier Tableau infrastructure: monitor server health, manage upgrades and releases, troubleshoot data connectivity, and implement new features.
• Administer and support Alteryx Servers in Windows environments: perform installations, upgrades, migrations, job scheduling, and monitor performance using best practices.
• Support DEV to PROD activities to support Alteryx Designer and Tableau; work with MongoDB when necessary to support backend functionality.
• Maintain technical documentation for SAP system configurations, platform standards, SOPs, and deployment guides.
• Participate in performance tuning and system optimization initiatives across SAP and BI platforms.
• Provide effective support for technical project activities, including sandbox provisioning, cutover planning, and infrastructure setup.
• Respond to incidents and service requests using ticketing systems, ensuring resolution within agreed SLAs.
• Support system audits and compliance requirements by maintaining consistent configuration, access control, and process documentation.
• Communicate clearly with management and team leads, providing updates, identifying risks, and suggesting corrective actions.
• Demonstrate strong commitment to company values, ethics, and quality standards, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with OpenText products (e.g., Document management, Content Server, Archive Server and ECM)
• Experience with SAP HANA Security – Manage user and role administration within SAP HANA.
• Configure and monitor Redwood-based batch jobs across SAP modules (FI, MM, SD), improving scheduling efficiency and system uptime.
• Design, implement, and test disaster recovery (DR) strategies to ensure business continuity.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for SAP system configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Perform root-cause analysis for problem tickets and implement preventive measures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
• Assume additional technical responsibilities and provide backup support as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration, with exposure to SAP ECC and other core components such as BW, BPC, or PI.
• Familiarity with operating systems like Windows and Linux, as well as basic knowledge of database platforms such as HANA, Oracle, or SQL Server, is expected.
• Experience with SAP cloud solutions (such as SAP BTP, AWS, or Azure) and tools like Solution Manager is a plus.
• A solid understanding of SAP system architecture, transport management, and system monitoring is important.
• Candidates should have strong problem-solving skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to work effectively within a global, cross-functional team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. SAP Basis certification or ITIL Foundation certification is preferred but not required.
