Full Stack Developer IV (NestJS)

Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. We’re hiring a Full Stack Developer IV (NestJS) in New York, NY for a top-tier financial technology group. This is a 6-month contract opportunity with potential for extension or conversion, and is a hybrid role requiring two days onsite per week (Wednesdays mandatory).

In this role, you’ll join the IT Applications Development team to modernize a proprietary index tool used by clients. The project involves reworking a complex inherited codebase, building scalable full stack solutions, and contributing heavily to backend development using NestJS.

There is no application deadline for this role.

Full Stack Developer IV (NestJS) Responsibilities:

• Rework and modernize an inherited, complex codebase.

• Build and maintain modern UI components (ReactJS; 80-90% frontend work).

• Develop backend services using NestJS (required), Express or Fastify.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.

• Troubleshoot across the full stack.

• Stay updated on best practices, tools, and technologies.

• Participate in virtual technical interviews and deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced environment.

Full Stack Developer IV (NestJS) Qualifications:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in full stack development.

• 6–8 years of proven hands-on experience with NestJS is mandatory.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS.

• Experience with ReactJS (frontend), and backend tech: NestJS (required), Express, or Fastify.

• Experience with Redux or state management libraries (Zustand is a plus).

• Exposure to Java or .NET backend environments a plus.

• REST API design experience.

• Git/version control and CI/CD familiarity.

• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

• Bachelor's degree preferred, Master's a strong plus.
