AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in Water Infrastructure, to be based in Bengaluru & Gurgaon, India. This role involves contributing to engineering design assignments within large-scale project teams. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience, preferably with exposure to projects in the UK, USA, Canada, and ANZ regions. Key responsibilities include utilizing design tools like Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Open Roads, with knowledge of E-Survey and 12D being advantageous. Experience with modeling tools such as Water GEMS, Sewer GEMS, Storm CAD, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, and GeoPak is a plus. The role requires expertise in wet utilities including potable water, stormwater drainage, treated sewage effluent, and sewerage networks (both pressure and gravity design using AutoCAD 2D and AutoCAD Civil 3D). Additionally, the engineer will provide technical support, perform clash analysis using Navisworks, work within Common Data Environments like ProjectWise and BIM 360, lead projects, coordinate with lead offices, mentor junior staff, and ensure quality checks. Experience in BIM system training and utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D from concept to completion, along with participation in developing engineering drawings and plans, is essential. The engineer will also be involved in earthworks modeling, sanitary and storm sewer design, watermain design, road grading, lot grading, and stormwater management design. Assisting in establishing processes for working with US/Canada offices is also part of the role.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of experience, preferably UK/USA/Canada/ANZ
  • Hands-on experience with Civil 3D, MicroStation, Open Roads
  • Wet Utilities design experience (water, drainage, sewerage)
  • Clash analysis using Navisworks
  • Experience in Common Data Environment (ProjectWise/BIM 360)
  • Project leadership, coordination, mentoring, quality checks
Good to have:

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer - Water Infrastructure based in Bengaluru & Gurgaon, India. Candidates will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Contribute to engineering design assignments in a team environment on large-scale project teams.
  • 10+ Years (Exposure to outside India projects preferably UK, USA, Canada & ANZ region )
  • Having good hands-on experience with design tools like Civil 3D, MicroStation, Open Roads is must. Knowledge on tools like E-Survey, 12D,  
  • Having hands on experience with modeling tools like Water GEMS, SewerGEMS, StormCAD, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, GeoPak would be advantage.
  • Wet Utilities - Potable Water, Storm Water Drainage, Treated Sewage Effluent & Sewerage network (pressure plus gravity design experience with the help of AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Civil3D)
  • Provide technical support to designers for relocation/shifting of assets, asset tagging, connection drawings, standard drawings etc.
  • Clash Analysis experience using Navisworks
  • Experience in working in Common Data Environment (ProjectWise and BIM 360)
  • Capable for leading the project, coordinating with Lead Office, mentoring juniors and ensuring quality checks
  • Provides training and technical support to design staff on the Building Information Modeling system, which provides 3D models using project specifications and content.

  • Utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge in projects from concept to completion.
  • Participate in the development of concept, preliminary and detailed engineering drawing, and plans, including general and drainage plan drawings, plan/profile drawings, section drawings, and detail drawings.
  • Complete design activities to specified standards including earthworks modelling and design, sanitary and storm sewer design, watermain design, grading of roads and drive isles, lot grading, and stormwater management design of ponds and other retention systems.
  • Assist in establishing processes for working with US/Canada offices; Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master of Engineering degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. 
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), or Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent in the relevant field from any global organization (e.g., Institution of Civil Engineers, UK).
  • Highly motivated, hardworking, interpersonal, and enthusiastic team player that is willing to learn and adapt to change.
  • US/UK/Canada Experience will be added advantage
  • Good communication skills, and ability to work well independently at times.
  • Able to see the “bigger picture” and take a birds-eye view of projects
  • Confident, with the ability to work either independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Accountability for assigned work.
