Job Description

As a Principal Product Manager at Microsoft AI, you'll drive the development of world-class AI applications. Responsibilities include understanding user needs, defining product requirements, managing product development, launches, and iterations. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams (UX, Data Science, Engineering, AI research, Product Marketing) to translate business goals into technical requirements. You'll define goals, set up experiments, measure success, and work in a fast-paced, customer-first environment. The role involves building consumer products leveraging Machine Learning or Large Language Models within the advertising, privacy, conversational AI, or generative AI space.

As a Principal Product Manager for Microsoft AI, you will help businesses that want to grow and expand their business using our products, data, and services through advertising and new business models that unlock AI-first products. This role requires consistent knowledge and deep awareness of the emerging AI industry to develop new products as we have the freedom and flexibility to use the best technology in service of our customer.

We work within Microsoft AI (MAI), an organization responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, MSN, and other AI-first products. The organization has all the ingredients needed for success with Product, Engineering, Research, and Go To Market functions partnering as peers with shared goals. This enables close collaboration and rapid decision making.

By applying to this U.S. Mountain View, CA OR Redmond, WA position, you are required to be local to the San Francisco area OR Seattle area and in office 3 days a week.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product management
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading product teams building products.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years of experience in product management
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading product teams building products in advertising, privacy, conversational AI, generative AI, or transferrable skills.
  • Experience building consumer products leveraging Machine Learning or Large Language Models.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.
  • Experience with data analytics and experimentation tools. Working knowledge of SQL and coding skills (Python, Javascript). 

 

 

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year. 
 
Product Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-first, product development cycle.
  • Translate business goals into strategy, user experience and technical requirements in close collaboration with UX, Data Science, Engineering, AI research, and Product Marketing teams.
  • Define goals and performance indicators, set up and oversee experiments, measure success with data and research.
  • Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to build exceptional consumer-grade applications.
