Microsoft's MAI and STCA teams in Suzhou and Beijing are offering Product Management internships for the Summer of 2025 (June-September). Interns will define product vision and strategy, identify investment opportunities, build consensus on product strategy, define features and goals, and develop and execute organic growth strategies. Responsibilities include analyzing customer needs and market opportunities, tracking key results and performance metrics, collaborating with engineering teams, prioritizing roadmap features, iterating designs, facilitating reviews, collaborating with marketing and planning teams, and building customer relationships. This is a chance to work on real-world projects related to products like Copilot, Bing, Edge, and Microsoft 365.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree
  • At least one semester remaining after internship

About the team:

 

MAI and STCA are hiring Product Management Interns in Suzhou and Beijing. 

 

The Microsoft AI (MAI) team is dedicated to creating world-class internet products, experiences, and services. Our department is responsible for the technological development and operational management of an array of products, including Copilot, Edge browser, Bing search, Microsoft Ads, Microsoft Maps, Microsoft Weather, and Content Consulting. We are committed to continuously investing in the development of a new portfolio of artificial intelligence products.

 

Microsoft Software Technology Center Asia (STCA), founded in 2005, has teams in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Taipei, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vancouver, with world-class regional R&D centers in Beijing and Suzhou. As an indispensable core force in Microsoft’s global product development and operations, STCA contributes to core products and innovations such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Windows, Forms, Outlook. Its work spans AI, big data, cloud computing, platforms and systems, security, user interaction design, mobile technologies, AI development tools, and AI Ops, making a significant impact on Microsoft’s global innovation efforts.

 

Internship Period: Summer of 2025 (Jun.~Sep.)

 

Target candidates: University students from related major

 

Location: Beijing/Suzhou, China

 

As a Product Management Intern, you will define product vision and strategy by leveraging a deep understanding of the customer experience and competitive market, while identifying short-and long-term investment opportunities, evaluating tradeoffs, and driving the product roadmap. You will build consensus on product strategy, define features, vision and goals for a specific product(s) or set of features. This opportunity will allow you to develop and execute strategies to enable in-product organic growth and focus on central, cross-functional leadership of a product.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must have at least one semester/term of school remaining following the completion of the internship.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in product/service/project/program management or software development.

Responsibilities

  • Identify customers’ unmet or unknown needs and market opportunities for enhancements or development of a feature (e.g., product, service) via quantitative and qualitative analyses and scope the impact of a problem.
  • Drive and track Key Results, success criteria and performance metrics. Partner with Software Engineering and Hardware Engineering to identify needed data and ensure telemetry is developed.
  • Determine features or experiences to prioritize in the roadmap that will support achievement of success criteria and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Gather input on priorities and resources needed to deliver desired outcomes for a single feature (e.g., product, service).
  • Iterate multiple designs with Design, Software Engineering, and Hardware Engineering. Assist in facilitating reviews (e.g., UX, system designs, data designs) with customers (e.g., regulators, engineers, policy makers, business-decision makers) to determine usability and ensure accessibility criteria and updated designs meet customer goals.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing, Business Planning, and Engineering to identify product release criteria, customer acquisition, and usage.
  • Monitor and report on progress and derive insights that lead to productive courses of action to improve product/feature development, iteration, and implementation.
  • Build trust with customers. Leverage a line of communication with customers to capture feedback and insights through the product development lifecycle.
