The QA Server Engineer ensures the reliability, performance, and functionality of server-side systems, focusing on APIs, protocols, and cloud-based microservices. This role involves collaborating with Frontend, Backend, DevOps, and Product teams, testing server-side components, developing and executing test cases, identifying and tracking defects, monitoring system logs, executing SQL queries for data validation, and maintaining technical documentation. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in server-side software testing, a strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems, proficiency in API testing, log analysis, CI/CD tools, and SQL.

The QA Server Engineer ensures the reliability, performance, and functionality of server-side systems. Focuses on APIs, protocols and cloud-based microservices, collaborating with Frontend, Backend, DevOps and Product teams.

Key Responsibilities

    • Test server-side components, including APIs, databases and microservices, across different environments.
    • Develop, execute, and maintain detailed test cases and plans.
    • Identify, document, and track defects, providing clear, reproducible steps for resolution.
    • Monitor and analyse system logs to diagnose issues and performance.
    • Execute SQL queries to validate data integrity and backend functionality in relational databases.
    • Maintain detailed technical documentation in a knowledge base.

Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Education
    • Certification in QA testing, with strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and techniques, or equivalent experience in related field.
    • Technical skills:
    • 2–4 years in server-side software testing, with focus on APIs, protocols and microservices.
    • Strong understanding of microservices infrastructure and testing in distributed systems.
    • Proficient in API testing using third-party tools.
    • Experience with testing microservices in distributed systems.
    • Experience with testing user interfaces and protocols.
    • Skilled in log tracking analysis and tools.
    • Experience with CI/CD tools.
    • Strong SQL skills for database validation.
    • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills for identifying edge cases and system bottlenecks.
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
    • Proactive in exploratory testing and risk identification.
    • Research abilities to investigate complex server issues.
    • Comfortable interpreting and creating technical diagrams and system flows.
    • Advantage:
    • Experience with automation tools to support transition to automated testing.
    • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud environments
