Job Details

We’ve designed a brand new electronic games controller that enables surgeons to use surgical instruments to play through a series of games and simulations. We now need to manufacture this at scale and we need your expertise to make this happen.

About us

At Grendel, we create fun. We do this by creating games: Serious Games that can be used to learn and train new skills, change perceptions and share new ideas with the aim of changing the world for the better little by little. The latter is reflected in our core values: trust, openness, transparency and equality.

We’ve been doing this for almost twenty years and we’re good at it. Our games have won awards and we have international customers and partners in the sustainability, education and healthcare sectors. Our brilliant team consists of creative people from all kinds of disciplines. We are open to more diversity.

What are you going to do?

Manufacturing Oversight: Complete the design for manufacturing process with our external electronics manufacturing service provider, including DVT and EVT phases, in collaboration with our electronics and hardware designers. Manage the end-to-end production process, including base stations and controllers, ensuring timely delivery and quality.

Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor stringent quality control processes, addressing any product defects promptly.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement process optimizations to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs.

Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering and marketing, to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.

Project Management: Keep the project on time and within budget, preparing regular progress reports for senior management.

Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with third-party manufacturers and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring product quality.

What are the requirements?

We expect that this will not be your first rodeo  – you’ve already worked in a similar role with a company to get OEM electronics devices manufactured to a high standard and you now have the experience to do this on your own as part of a small but determined team.

You will be familiar with manufacturing steps, selection and coordination of vendors, you know your DVT from your EVT, if someone asks you if we should add a conformal coating to our PCBs you will be able to give us the pros and cons. You can see the bigger but also follow up on the detail and you have a track record of delivering on time and on budget.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in production management, preferably in the video game or consumer electronics industry.
  • Strong understanding of hardware production processes, quality control, and supply chain management.
  • Experience working with third-party manufacturers and managing external production processes.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-faceted projects.
  • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

What do we have to offer?

  • Being able to create entertainment games with a purpose: improving our world.
  • A flat corporate hierarchy, responsibility and freedom in organizing and carrying out your work.
  • Room for experimentation and growth.
  • Planned time and budget for personal development and training.
  • Work with a creative and driven team of professionals.
  • Work in a historic Dutch prison in a relaxed game studio.
  • Combine remote working with your own space in the office.
