Qualcomm's System Performance Team validates and optimizes performance for Snapdragon Chipsets across Mobile, Compute, Automotive, and IOT. In this role, you will profile, analyze, and achieve optimal performance, power, and thermal KPIs for Qualcomm products, collaborating across multiple teams to drive analysis and modeling for industry-leading targets.
Must have:
  • Leverage knowledge of Power, Performance, and Thermal Systems Engineering.
  • Research, architect, design, develop, and validate SoC, Chipset and system level performance, power, thermal and limits models.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to drive industry leading architecture and implementation.
  • Develop and deploy models, methodologies, and tools to profile, estimate, optimize, and validate use cases and data flows.
  • Correlate Power Performance Thermal KPI targets for product defining use cases and benchmarks.
  • Provide optimal system-level recommendations for QoS, BW voting and other power, thermal, and limits management attributes and policies.
  • Evaluate and optimize system-level performance, power and thermal metrics across the silicon distribution.
  • Drive triage of complex problems at the system level to determine root cause.
  • Write complex technical documentation for projects.
  • Contribute to design reviews and project meetings.
Good to have:
  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of practical post-silicon experience of power and performance analysis of complex SoCs
  • Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, C/C++)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-starter and able to work independently
  • Understanding of memory hierarchy and system interconnects
  • Understanding of ARM SoC concepts and architecture specifications like SMMU, GIC, Coresight-PMU, and various bus interface protocols
  • Knowledge and experience in ARM v8 and v9 specifications
  • Understanding of industry power and performance benchmarks along with system interaction and dependencies
  • System power/performance analysis tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of SW Power management stacks and scheduler behavior
  • Computer hardware and architecture understanding

Qualcomm's System Performance Team is responsible for validating and optimizing performance for Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipsets across all business units such as Mobile, Compute, Automotive, and IOT. In the role of System Performance Engineer, you will perform the complex responsibility of profiling, analyzing and achieving optimal performance, power and thermal KPIs for a wide range of Qualcomm products. You will collaborate across multiple teams (e.g., IP, Design, Verification, Process, SW, Product Management, etc.) and job families (e.g., Modem, Multimedia, CPU, GPU, NSP, DSP, RF, PMIC, etc.) to drive the analysis and modeling towards implementation to achieve industry leading performance, power and thermal KPI targets for SoCs and Chipsets.

Key Responsibilities

• Leverages knowledge of Power, Performance, and Thermal Systems Engineering to achieve optimal performance standards for products across all BUs.

• Researches, architects, designs, develops, and validates SoC, Chipset and system level performance, power, thermal and limits models to estimate and optimize product defining KPIs for diverse industrial form factors targeting products across Mobile, Compute, XR, Cloud AI, Infrastructure, Automotive, CSS, and IOT BU roadmaps.

• Collaborates cross functionally to drive industry leading architecture and implementation to achieve power, performance and thermal KPI targets for products on the roadmap.

• Develops and deploys models, methodologies, and tools to profile, estimate, optimize, and validate use cases and data flows.

• Correlates Power Performance Thermal KPI targets for product defining use cases and benchmarks from product definition through commercialization.

• Provides optimal system-level recommendations for QoS, BW voting and other power, thermal, and limits management attributes and policies to internal development teams.

• Evaluates and optimizes system-level performance, power and thermal metrics across the silicon distribution.

• Drives triage of complex problems at the system level to determine root cause in RUMI and silicon platforms internally, and on customer platforms.

• Writes complex technical documentation for projects.

• Contributes to design reviews and project meetings

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

• 5+ years of practical post-silicon experience of power and performance analysis of complex SoCs • Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, C/C++)

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$148,300.00 - $222,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
