Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects related to new hardware product introductions for data centers. You will utilize your technical expertise to manage project schedules, identify risks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include providing EHS leadership, evaluating data center hardware for employee hazards, integrating safety requirements into design standards, and reviewing incidents to evaluate risk mitigation options. You'll also report on progress and milestone accomplishments to leadership. This role requires strong program management skills, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven problem-solving abilities. Experience in design and validation processes for new hardware products, EHS design or engineering, and a background in data center operations are essential.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or technical project management.
  • Experience with design and validation processes for new hardware products.
  • Experience in program management with new product design and implementation.
  • Experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) design or engineering.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Product/Hardware Platform design and safety.
  • Experience with virtual evaluation for early risk reduction.
  • Experience with ergonomics design.
  • Experience implementing EHS needs in the design of data centers and knowledge of Data Center Operations, Facilities Management, Engineering, and Construction.
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets, create solution development, and rapid understanding of new equipment, with successful project delivery.
  • Excellent program management, cross-functional collaboration, investigative, and data-driven problem-solving skills.

Safety and Ergonomics play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and usability of new product designs. As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) New Product Introduction (NPI) Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will proactively review product designs at all stages of development, identify potential safety hazards and ergonomic risks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective mitigation measures. The primary objective is to minimize the risk of safety incidents and promote the well-being of end-users by integrating safety and ergonomic considerations into the product development lifecycle.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide EHS leadership for the introduction of new hardware products, implementing mitigations to ensure the highest level of safety possible. Evaluate new data center hardware for employee hazards to servers, racks, tools and related infrastructure, coordinate equipment changes with cross-functional teams to enable risk mitigation across the product life cycle.
  • Manage safety requirement integration into design standards, coordinate equipment reviews with cross-functional teams to perform job hazard analysis, and report them to stakeholder teams.    
  • Review incidents with cross-functional teams to evaluate risk mitigation options for current and future deployed equipment.
  • Manage multiple programs and report to leadership on progress and milestone accomplishments.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time as needed.
