The Engineering Chief of Staff position has primary responsibility for completion of high-level activities directly for a member of Altera's executive team. The nature of the job varies based on the executive, leadership team and organization's changing needs, and may evolve over time.
This position plays a key role in sensing and working directly with the broader Engineering organization and staff to help set priorities and understand gaps, also working with other senior executives across Altera as required.
This position provides high-performing, high-potential professionals at Altera with an opportunity for accelerated business and leadership learning with a unique assignment reporting to, and receiving mentoring directly from, their executive. The length of the assignment is targeted to be 24 months but may be shortened or extended based on business needs or a joint determination with their executive.
The Altera Engineering Chief of Staff will report to and directly support Premal Buch, Head of Engineering and his direct staff. This position will provide counsel, assistance, and coordination to drive business decision-making and learning and development processes and solutions to assure successful execution of the strategic business objectives. The role will require the development of strong relationships within the Engineering organization and with partner organization stakeholders.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Engineering COS/TA will manage all staff activities, staff meetings and such, creating collaterals for internal and external purposes, as well as driving organizational special projects and Engineering stakeholder relationship management.
This position requires a strong knowledge of Altera, our strategy, our customer landscape, our processes, and our policies. With an ability to work across a broad scope of business arenas to ensure that the Head of Engineering is focused on the most critical elements necessary to drive strategic results for the company.
This position plays a key role in sensing and working directly with the broader organization and staff to help set priorities and understand gaps, also working with other senior leaders and executives across Altera and their Chiefs of Staff as required (globally).
Other job duties and responsibilities may include:
Driving day to day schedule and execution operation.
Developing strong lateral connections with business groups.
Creating and defining the business processes within the Engineering org or a specific group/ function.
Integrating standard operations functions like HR, Finance, Staffing - working with external teams and customers on planning, reviews, and driving
BS in Engineering, 10+ years of relevant experience related to semiconductor/software industries
MBA preferred, but not required
Strong understanding of FPGA products, technologies, and Altera's business strategies preferred, but not required
