Description

We want you to #JOINTHEREBELLION!

For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

Join our passionate team as an Animator and lend your talents to an exciting, yet-to-be-revealed project! This is a fantastic chance to play a pivotal role in a venture that builds upon Rebellion's legacy of success.

In the role of Animator, you'll craft captivating gameplay animations for our projects, ensuring your work is not only cohesive but also aligns with the project's technical specifications and artistic vision.

This exciting opportunity can be based out of any of our studios in Oxford or Warwick, offering flexibility, collaboration, and the chance to work with a world-class team! We can provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.

We believe in the power of face-to-face collaboration and encourage working from our Oxford headquarters. However, we understand that flexibility matters, so we’re open to discussing hybrid options based on individual needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality gameplay character animations consistently.
  • Employ your expertise in timing, exaggeration, weight and scale, easing in and out, overlapping actions, anticipation, secondary motion, framing, squash and stretch, arcs, and perspective to produce 3D animations.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and integrate feedback to ensure the creation of captivating animations.
  • Refine, enhance, and polish motion capture data to achieve exemplary quality.
  • Monitor and document the progress of daily tasks utilising JIRA.
  • Exhibit a readiness to provide feedback and mentorship to junior staff under the guidance of the Lead Animator.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Animator in the games industry, supported by a strong demo reel that demonstrates this.
  • Proficient in industry-standard 3D animation tools such as Maya, MotionBuilder, or equivalent software.
  • Hands-on experience working with motion capture data, including cleanup and polish.
  • Solid grasp of acting principles, cinematography, and visual storytelling to bring characters to life.
  • Strong ability to animate realistic human motion; experience with creature animation and/or first-person perspective animation is a plus.
  • Comfortable working closely with Technical Animators on rigging and skinning requirements.
  • Sound understanding of production pipelines, workflows, and best practices in game development.
  • A passionate and proactive game developer with a keen interest in gameplay animation and how it enhances the player experience.
