What You’ll Do on a Typical Day

• Provides database development, support, and maintenance for full-stack application development teams

• Develops and maintains stored procedures and SSIS ETL packages

• Provides second-level database support to end users

• Tunes databases and queries for performance

• Synchronizes data between applications; troubleshoots issues

• Works with developers on system design from a database perspective

• Participates in Agile ceremonies and departmental events

• Works with key stakeholders to understand, develop and deliver customer requirements 

• Shares knowledge in modern database techniques

• Uses available technical and non-technical resources to develop and maintain a good understanding of the travel industry, our products and services offered

What Technical Skills You’ll Develop

• Advanced ability in SQL Server, 2015 onwards

• Proven experience developing SSIS ETL packages

• Experience creating and maintaining Stored Procedures

• Experience with data synchronization, indexing and performance tuning

• Experience scripting in languages like: PowerShell, C# and VB.NET

• Some experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure

• Familiarity with relational database design

• Experience with tools like Redgate SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare

• Knowledge of modern databases, concepts, and patterns

• Experience with Visual Studio

• Responsible and detail-oriented performer with high quality standards

• Self-disciplined with the ability to work autonomously and/or collaboratively within a team

• Adaptable by nature with persistence to see a job through to a timely conclusion

• Relationship-orientated, a good listener and communicator who can engage and adapt their approach to the audience

• Self-controlled and capable of communicating facts within the required area of knowledge and expertise

• An advocate of best business and technical practice

• Accurate and methodical in working within guidelines and policies

• Very good grasp of computer science or software engineering with ability to articulate (or equivalent recognized experience)

• Educated to A-Level
