Kwalee seeks a Game Programmer to develop high-quality, fun games based on approved designs. Responsibilities include implementing creative concepts, writing well-documented code using C# or C++ in Unity or Unreal Engine, contributing to game designs, conducting code reviews, collaborating with other developers, and ensuring high-quality releases. The role also involves analyzing user feedback, researching emerging technologies, and optimizing performance for commercial success. The position is permanent and based in the Leamington Spa studio, requiring daily on-site presence.

As we continue to grow, we are now looking for a Game Programmer to join our Programming team.

As a Game Programmer, you will be responsible for developing high-quality and incredibly fun games based on approved design concepts, striving to achieve “best in class” in each category. You will work closely with designers, artists, and other programmers. Together, you will create engaging gameplay experiences and optimize performance to ensure commercial success.

This is a permanent role based in our Leamington Spa studio, where our daily in-office collaboration fuels creativity and innovation.

Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement creative ideas and concepts for our games.
    • Write high-quality, well-documented code using proven design patterns and company standards.
    • Actively contribute to game designs to ensure an exceptional player experience.
    • Conduct code reviews and use analysis tools to maintain high code quality.
    • Work closely with technical staff to define and implement software development best practices.
    • Collaborate with the team to understand design briefs and bring them to life.
    • Solve technical challenges proactively while maintaining clear and effective communication.
    • Ensure new game releases meet high-quality standards and collaborate with QA to resolve issues.
    • Analyse and respond to user feedback and comments to enable improved versions to be created. 
    • Research and keep abreast of emerging technologies including devices & operating systems in order to be able to deliver the most up-to-date and relevant games, Including learning new programming languages or technologies if necessary.
    • Reduce cost and increase revenue to maximise profit.

Requirements:

    • Proven experience in game programming with a strong portfolio of released projects.
    • Proficiency in C# or C++, with experience in Unity or Unreal Engine.
    • Strong understanding of game mechanics, physics, and AI systems.
    • Experience with software architecture, design patterns, and optimization techniques.
    • Ability to write high-performance, maintainable, and scalable code.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Passion for making fun and engaging games!
    • Based in our Leamington Spa office with 5 days per week on-site.
