Indirect Tax, Senior Analyst

Position Summary
Thales is looking for an Indirect Tax, Senior Analyst who will provide compliance, audit, tax analysis, and support for all Indirect Tax Issues for Thales US and Canadian entities.
Day-to-day activities will be carried out in a team format where you will be regularly working with both the Director and Manager. You will be responsible for maintaining the interface between the tax department, project controllers, project managers, accounting and finance. Assist with managing all aspects of state tax filings, Canadian filings, support of federal and all other international filings, financial treatment determinations, and interface with Infosys, the offshore service provider. Maintain a high level of customer service to both the internal and external customers and act as the lead of the tax process.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Prepare and analyses consolidated sales and use tax data for third party compliance consultants and for monthly sales tax filings. Review subsequent prepared returns.
Track and manage sales and use tax credits.
Prepare tax refunds.
Maintain and optimize the tax engine configurations and assist with new implementation.
OneSource tax engine to ensure products are taxed correctly, at the correct tax rates,
Manage customer provided exemption certificates.
Analyse AP Tax hold reports weekly.
Prepare, and file In-House Sales and Use Tax Returns, and manage payments of amounts due – Thales and its subsidiaries.
Maintain company tax records by preparing monthly treasury and accounting reports, journal entries and reconciliations.
Prepare, and file monthly Canada GST/HST Returns
Prepare, and file Personal Property Tax renditions, and track payments.
Sales Tax Audits
Review / Research Tax Liabilities online and communicate with State and Local Government contacts.
Ensure compliance gross receipts, excise tax, business licenses, and other miscellaneous tax obligations in state and local jurisdictions.
Perform other indirect tax duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
3+ years of experience in U.S. tax within Big Four or at least 4+ years of relevant accounting or finance related experience. This experience should include tax compliance, audit & experience preparing monthly accounting Journal Entries.
Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams in a large, corporate environment.
Expert level Microsoft skills especially with Excel.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a focus on the details.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—able to work across teams and explain sophisticated tax concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
A self-starter and growth mindset with strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize.
A passion for technology-driven tax solutions—experience with Oracle, OneSource, SAP, and Avalara is a plus.
Uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instruction but receives additional specific instructions from VP Tax or Tax Manager for new, difficult, or special projects/assignments.
