Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the maintenance department's functions and programs. They will direct support services and focus on employee training and development. Key responsibilities include assisting in hiring, training personnel, managing employee performance, developing and implementing maintenance programs, troubleshooting issues, coordinating maintenance activities, and leading safety initiatives. The supervisor will also perform regular maintenance, repair equipment, order supplies, maintain records, and prepare reports, all while adhering to safety rules and procedures.
Must have:
  • Post-high school education
  • 3-5 years machine repair experience
  • 1-3 years people management experience
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology
  • Knowledge of safe equipment practices and regulations
  • Knowledge of hazardous material handling
  • Working knowledge of precision tools and hand tools
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Good to have:
  • Understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures

Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of the maintenance department functions and programs. Directs and coordinates support services. Training and development of its employees.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in interviews and hiring processes
  • Orientates and trains maintenance personnel
  • Coaches counsel employees, and initiates discipline as required
  • Evaluates the performance of subordinates
  • Develops and implements preventative and other maintenance programs to ensure proper equipment operation
  • Identifies, researches, and resolves problems
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with the operating department's requirements
  • Leads employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives
  • Performs regular/preventative maintenance on all machinery, tools, and buildings
  • Develops, implements, and supervises the plant’s Preventive Maintenance program
  • Repairs machinery, equipment, buildings, and other Company assets in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturing specifications, or by management request
  • Orders supplies and parts as required, at competitive pricing and rates
  • Maintains records of repair/maintenance activities, per Company policy
  • Prepares other reports as required
  • Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required


Qualifications

  • Post-high school education is required
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in machine repair and maintenance area; 1 to 3 years of experience managing people
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding
  • Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous wage and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
  • Working knowledge of the use of precision tools, measuring instruments, and other hand tools
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and other business software
  • Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
