Job Description

As a Middle QA Engineer (Mobile) at Stepico, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of a tycoon simulation game. Your primary duties include executing test cases, performing various types of testing, writing detailed bug reports, collaborating with the development team, and contributing to test documentation. You will also provide feedback on the gameplay experience. This role requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in game testing and a passion for gaming.
Must have:
  • 3+ years experience in game testing or QA
  • Knowledge of game testing methodologies
  • Familiarity with gaming platforms (PC, mobile, browser)
  • Proficiency in bug-tracking systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of game development concepts
  • Upper Intermediate English level or higher
Good to have:
  • Unity Engine
  • C#
  • AltTester
  • Any other automation experience

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in game testing or quality assurance, preferably in a professional game development studio;
  •  In-depth knowledge of game testing methodologies, processes, and best practices;
  • Familiarity with various gaming platforms (PC, mobile, browser) and their specific requirements for testing. Instruments and services: Unity, Android Studio, Xcode, Firebase, Charles;
  •  Proficiency in using bug-tracking systems to report, track, and manage bugs throughout their lifecycle;
  •  Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify, isolate, and reproduce bugs effectively;
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information and collaborate with the development team;
  • Understanding game development concepts, including game design principles, gameplay mechanics, and user experience;
  • English: Upper Intermediate level or higher.

Will be a plus:

  • Unity Engine;
  • C#;
  • AltTester;
  • Any other automation experience.

Personal characteristics

  • Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of different game genres and player expectations;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • Problem-solving mindset and the ability to think critically to find creative solutions;
  • Strong debugging skills to help identify issues and provide detailed information to developers. Understanding of Unity’s debugging tools and log files.

Main Responsibilities

  • Execute test cases and perform various types of testing (functional, compatibility, performance, etc.) to identify bugs, glitches, and other issues in the game;
  •  Write clear and detailed bug reports, including steps to reproduce, expected results, and actual results;
  •  Verify bug fixes and track their status in the bug-tracking system;
  •  Collaborate with the development team to troubleshoot and resolve issues, providing input and suggestions to improve game quality;
  • Participate in test planning and contribute to the creation and maintenance of test documentation; including test cases, test plans, and test scripts;
  • Conduct regression testing to ensure that fixed issues do not reintroduce new problems;
  •  Provide feedback on the gameplay experience, user interface, controls, and overall game mechanics to improve player satisfaction;
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and emerging QA practices to enhance your testing skills and knowledge;
  • Assist in mentoring and providing guidance to junior testers when needed.

Project information

It is a tycoon simulation game where players create their dream cities and furnish their mansions. These are made possible with the Gold and Diamonds generated from their in-game land plots and businesses, running the gamut from banks to cinemas.

Additionally, players have the opportunity to get special prizes in the game’s Competitive Mode. The top 1,000 players in the leaderboard will receive special rewards, so the higher your ranking, the more rewards you’ll receive.
