Job Description

This Quality Engineer role involves ensuring quality assurance in the software delivery lifecycle for regulatory, post-trade, reconciliation, and data solutions within the Regulatory Reporting team. Responsibilities include testing the platform, identifying testing gaps, developing test cases, maintaining tests, and contributing to QA process improvements. The engineer will also participate in Agile ceremonies, manage expectations, and present quality work. The role requires a strong technical and financial systems background, involving the understanding of technical and financial terminology, and the ability to communicate effectively. The candidate will also contribute to Agile ceremonies and QA procedures. They will also provide clear estimates, status, and progress and present great quality work or demo a new feature.
Must have:
  • 3+ years QA experience, ideally in finance or software.
  • Good industry knowledge with technical and financial understanding.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Previous SQL and Java experience.
Good to have:
  • ISTQB / ISEB Foundation certificate or higher.

    Role Description:

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer with a strong technical and financial systems background.

    Working within the Regulatory Reporting team, part of a leading UK investment and financial services company, you will be responsible for the quality assurance of the software delivery lifecycle for regulatory, post trade, reconciliation and data solutions.

    To be successful in this job, you should have software testing and automation experience, with a background within some the following areas:

    • Regulatory reporting – e.g. MiFIR, EMIR (and ideally knowledge of regulations from ESMA, FCA and other Regulators and Venues)
    • Financial Markets and Financial Instruments
    • Automated testing (ideally with Java and Selenium WebDriver)

    A good working knowledge of SQL, is a core prerequisite of the role.

    Due to the nature of the Regulatory Reporting Platform and Solutions, technical knowledge and experience will expedite your acclimatization to this  position.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Test PTRR Platform and Solutions as per defined requirements. Clarify the specifications and change details if necessary
    • Identify gaps in current testing coverage, prioritize high-risk areas and develop new manual and automated test cases (using Java, Selenium and TestNG)
    • Became a SME of the tested Solution/Platform
    • Maintain the exploratory and automated tests. Investigate automation failures and update steps, input files, test data or log bugs when needed
    • Involved in refinement and improvement of QA processes with the purpose of increasing control /efficiency and supporting timely, accurate and effective reporting
    • Identify product and project risks, raise them to the Scrum or Project team and make sure  a mitigation plan is implemented
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as Sprint planning, daily-standups, retrospectives and contribute to process improvements
    • Be involved and follow Agile practices and QA procedures
    • Manage collaborators expectations. Provide clear estimates, status and progress
    • Gather the right audience and present great quality work or demo a new feature

    Candidate Profile / Key Skills:

    • 3+ years working as a QA professional, ideally with experience at either a financial software vendor or financial institution
    • Good industry knowledge; ability to communicate and understand both technical and financial terminology used
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to evaluate information with sound judgement, attention to detail and accuracy
    • Familiar with Agile methodologies
    • Previous SQL and Java experience
    • ISTQB / ISEB Foundation certificate or higher testing certification would be a plus
    • Working to agreed project schedule and workload
    • Involved and proactive person
    • Adaptable, reliable and supportive
    • Focused on personal development
    • Able to work in context switching environments
