DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Translates, adapts and edits moderately complex marketing, promotional and Consumer Service and other materials into Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Canadian French required to support products and services
Provides proposals for addressing potential cultural and creative challenges in adapting Nintendo marketing, promotional and consumer service materials for the Americas, prioritizing feedback appropriately to balance with stakeholder resources and scheduling challenges
Informs management in a timely manner regarding schedule challenges, changes, and delays
May provide input and assistance to management on planning and scheduling
May test and evaluate games and products and provide feedback regarding design and content for NOA territories
Reviews machine translation, text from outsourcing and global partners for accuracy and consistency, and proactively identifies opportunities to use machine translation
Maintains awareness of game industry in assigned market and may communicate market trends to promotional and marketing teams
May coordinate with localization staff to create and maintain shared glossaries of hardware, software and service-related terminology
Maintains awareness of culturalization topics, may identify issues and propose solutions as needed
Performs translation for other departments and subsidiaries as required
Innovates and finds efficiencies in the translation, adaptation and editing process
May participate in the hiring process by participating in interviews
Provides feedback on machine translation and other tools
Translates, adapts and edits software-, hardware- and service-related content for websites, social media, and other consumer-facing portals
SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of four years of localization experience
Strong awareness and understanding of global localization issues and market preferences
Ability to make recommendations regarding cultural/localization issues affecting marketing and promotional materials
Ability to grasp and preserve the creative vision of source materials during the adaptation process
Translation/copywriting/copyediting experience
Experience producing high-quality results under tight deadlines
Experience working with global teams
Thorough knowledge of Nintendo franchises, products, and history
Familiarity with historical and current video game industry for console, PC, and mobile markets
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and ability to quickly become proficient with complex proprietary software
Familiarity with how tags work in programming languages preferred
Ability to work in a highly confidential environment
Strong translation, writing and editing skills required
Awareness and understanding of US and French Canadian/Latin American/Brazilian Portuguese translation issues and market preferences recommended
Familiarity with French Canadian/Latin American/Brazilian Portuguese history, culture, customs and business protocol required
Familiarity with localization/CAT tools like translation memory, machine translation, and parsing tools, as well as content management tools preferred
Experience operating Microsoft Windows and Office software in French/Spanish/Portuguese
Valid passport required
Native fluency in Portuguese
Undergraduate degree in required language, Linguistics, Translation, a related field, or equivalent experience
Experience translating and editing in target language required
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be considered. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. This position is hybrid in Redmond, WA. Hybrid positions require regular onsite work following the schedule and guidelines for their division. This position is not open to fully remote status at this time.
This position includes a base pay range of $32.45 - $51.92 per hour, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
