Our Platform Services Team
At Second Dinner, platform services are the backbone of our ability to deliver robust and seamless game experiences to millions of players worldwide. The Platform Services team builds and maintains infrastructure so game teams can focus on crafting the most fun and engaging player experiences possible! By ensuring a secure and robust technology backbone, we lay the foundation that enables player experience and trust for critical services such as managing accounts and in-app purchases.
Your Role
You will report to the Engineering Lead of Platform Services, and your primary responsibility is to ensure the seamless implementation of authentication, account management, payment processing, and compliance services across major platforms like App Store, Google Play, and Steam.
You’ll enhance the reliability, security, and efficiency of the cloud-based infrastructure, applying best practices in both operational performance and security. You’ll also monitor and optimize the backend environment to ensure high availability, troubleshoot live issues, and drive improvements in observability, scalability, and performance.

What You’ll Do:
Partner with the game teams to implement and integrate platform services, such as authentication, accounts, payment processing, and compliance management across App Store, Google Play, and Steam
Develop and integrate platform services with a serverless backend architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency
Enable platform service integrations with various systems, such as web shop and other external services, to provide consistent and secure player experiences
Ensure seamless functionality through rigorous testing and adherence to platform-specific requirements
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize backend systems to maintain high availability and performance
Enhance the security and reliability of cloud-based infrastructure, implementing best practices for cloud security
Provide technical guidance and contribute to operational efficiency and scalability improvements
What You’ll Need:
Strong experience in operating and scaling backend services in AWS or other cloud infrastructures
Proficiency in programming languages such as .NET/C# or similar for building backend systems and automation tools
Experience integrating backend platform services with web applications
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases for high-traffic, zero-downtime systems
Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Honeycomb, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
Strong understanding of security best practices for cloud environments, including IAM, network security, and data encryption
Experience being in on-call rotation to operate services with live players and proven ability to troubleshoot live service issues and implement sustainable solutions
Effective communication skills to articulate technical concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams
A proactive and collaborative mindset to contribute to team success
Nice to Have, but Not Necessary:
Experience with game technologies like Firebase, AppsFlyer, or other game-related SaaS solutions
Experience with integrating with console platform services, such as Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Steamworks, Nintendo Network
Experience in integrating backend services with mobile game clients built using Unity and .NET/C#
Familiarity with compliance frameworks like GDPR, CCPA, and their technical implementations
Knowledge of serverless architectures and their application in cloud environments
The total compensation for this position includes a new hire offer base salary range of $150,00 to $195,000 USD + equity + comprehensive benefits + potential for discretionary performance bonuses.
Individual pay within this salary range may span multiple levels within the discipline and is determined by assessed job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training. It also factors in market demands and business needs. The disclosed range is not adjusted based on location and may be subject to change or modification based on business needs in the future. Your recruiter can answer any questions about new hire total compensation during the hiring process.
