Job Description
VIPRE Security, a brand of Ziff Davis, is seeking a Software Developer to design and implement applications, services, and data pipelines. Responsibilities include debugging production issues, collaborating on cloud backend systems, improving service availability, and maintaining code quality. The role involves working with a distributed team of engineers and requires experience with C and/or Golang, backend systems, APIs, and data structures. The candidate should have knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization strategies. The role also requires the candidate to have experience with scalable and distributed datastores.
Must have:
- Design and implement applications in C and/or Golang.
- Debug production issues across services.
- Develop and deliver VIPRE cloud backend systems.
- Experience building backend systems.
Good to have:
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Knowledge of security principles, including cryptography.
- Understanding of network protocols and architecture.
- Experience with containers and orchestrators (kubernetes, ECS, EKS, nomad)
- Familiarity with microservice architecture.

Description
VIPRE Security, a brand of Ziff Davis, develops cybersecurity products focused on endpoint protection and email security together with advanced threat intelligence solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement applications, services and data pipelines in C and/or Golang
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
- Work collaboratively to develop, implement and deliver VIPRE cloud core backend systems in an agile environment.
- Continually improve availability, scalability, performance and reliability of our services
- Help maintain code quality, organization, automation and continuous delivery
- Work with a distributed team of engineers
- Education and/or Certification Requirements
- BA/BS in CS or related field, or equivalent experience
Experience
- Development experience, building, running, and debugging applications
- Proficient in C and/or Golang, with extensive experience in developing robust and efficient backend systems
- Design, build, and maintain APIs (REST, gRPC, etc), user-facing applications, services, and systems
- Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures and performance optimization strategies
- Experience and skills in developing, navigating and utilizing Unix/Linux environments
- Hands on experience of working in platform teams building reusable infrastructure and service components running at high transactional volumes
- Strong Experience with scalable and distributed datastores (MySQL, ElasticSearch)
- Experience with AWS or other cloud providers for both infrastructure and application development
Desired Skills
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges effectively, even under high-pressure conditions.
- Solid knowledge of security principles, including cryptography and encryption methodologies.
- Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP), firewalls, and overall network architecture.
- Experience developing and deploying distributed services using containers and orchestrators (kubernetes, ECS, EKS, nomad)
- Familiarity with microservice architecture, cloud native and twelve-factor principles.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like AWS CDK or Terraform
Target salary is $70-$75K as commensurate with experience and knowledge demonstrated during interviews.
Total compensation includes salary, benefits, matching contribution to one's RRSP/401K plans, preferred stock option purchase plan, and other perks.
