Job Description

As a Staff SAP Developer at Illumina, you will be responsible for planning, prioritizing, and overseeing technical deliverables across various SAP projects, including implementations, rollouts, and upgrades. This role requires active engagement in coding, debugging, and performance optimization, ensuring high-quality technical solutions aligned with SAP and Illumina standards. You will collaborate with global and cross-functional teams, apply Agile/Scrum methodologies, and manage multiple technical priorities to design, develop, and maintain SAP ECC, S/4HANA, GTS, TMS, and EWM applications.
Must have:
  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee technical deliverables across SAP projects including implementations, rollouts, upgrades, and ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to align technical solutions with strategic objectives.
  • Remain actively engage in coding, debugging, performance optimization, and complex problem resolution.
  • Review and approve technical specifications, code, and documentation to ensure high quality and alignment with SAP and Illumina standards.
  • Stay current with evolving SAP technologies and proactively introduce best practices and new tools to the team.
  • Work independently on tasks and provide scalable technical solutions in collaboration with functional teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with global teams and cross-functional stakeholders across different time zones to achieve project goals.
  • Apply Agile/Scrum methodologies to manage development activities
  • Design, develop, and maintain SAP ECC, S/4HANA, GTS, TMS and EWM applications
  • Manage multiple technical priorities simultaneously while balancing stakeholder expectations and project timelines.
  • Clearly and regularly communicate development status, risks, challenges, and opportunities to leadership and key stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development
  • Mandatory expertise in ABAP on HANA and S/4HANA, with strong proficiency in CDS Views, RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), and OData services.
  • Strong foundation in core ABAP.
  • Experience in full lifecycle SAP projects implementations, upgrades, rollouts, and production support.
  • Deep experience in performance tuning and optimization in HANA environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues independently.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Fiori/UI5 development is a plus.
  • Exposure to SAP BTP services and custom application development on BTP is a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrates initiative, teamwork, and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional, global teams.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with functional teams and creating clear technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of SAP OSS incident handling, notes implementation, and communication procedures.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and SAP-specific development methodologies.
