The Chip Factory Planner at NVIDIA's Hsinchu office acts as a liaison between the master scheduling team and key chip subcontractors. Responsibilities include ensuring daily/weekly production schedules are met, resolving issues related to specifications, business processes, and data discrepancies, and collaborating with internal and external partners. The role involves optimizing production best practices (lot size, loading cadence, product mix, prioritization), monitoring subcontractor performance against KPIs, preparing executive summaries, and proposing solutions for roadblocks. The planner will work with program managers and engineers to support complex engineering experiments and unit demand fulfillment. Continuous improvement initiatives are key, requiring suggestions to enhance committed shipment rates, cycle time, and production line efficiency.
Must have:
  • 5+ years semiconductor planning experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Administration
  • Excellent communication & problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel VBA, SAP, Windchill, E2Open
  • Strong organizational & quantitative skills
Good to have:
  • Experience driving factory improvements

Job Details

We are looking for a Chip Factory Planner, who is a driven individual that can excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment based in the Hsinchu Office.  Part of the Silicon Operation team, the Hsinchu factory team has been able to drive all the subcontractors to meet / exceed all the key performance index and achieve operational excellence.

What you'll be doing:

  • Act as a link between our master scheduling team and our key chip subcontractors to ensure the daily and weekly production schedule get executed as planned.

  • Often times there will be issues related to the specs, business process, and data variance that need to be clarified. You will be planning's person in charge to communicate between different internal departments and our external partners to clarify such issues.

  • Work with other silicon operations teams to continue fine tuning the production best practices to improve the subcontractors’ performance.  Examples include 1) setting optimal lot size, 2) production loading cadence, 3) ideal product mix, 4) rules for prioritization, etc.

  • Monitor the subcontractors’ performance continuously to ensure all KPI targets are met.  You will analyze the weekly performance data and prepare an executive summary.

  • Host a weekly meeting with the operations team senior management and go through the subcontractors’ overall performance.  You will give the leadership team proposals on how to remove roadblocks and resolve issues by implementing relevant corrective action plans.

  • Work with the program managers & engineers on how to best let the factories successfully carry out complex engineering experiments and fulfill engineering unit demand.

What we need to see:

  • 5+ years of working experience in the semiconductor planning field

  • Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Administration or equivalent experience in semiconductor Planning.

  • Good communication, problem-solving, collaboration, organizational, and quantitative skills.

  • Proficiency in business software applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel VBA, SAP, Windchill, and E2Open.

  • Language: Excellent English skills on reading, writing, speaking, and listening

  • Personality: highly organized, detailed orientated, a self-starter with a strong sense of ownership.
