The Data Reliability Engineering team at CME Group is responsible for ensuring the resilience, performance, and integrity of critical data pipelines and platforms. They utilize cutting-edge observability practices, data analytics, and automation to proactively identify issues, optimize performance, and maintain high data quality standards. The role involves analyzing requirements, collaborating with senior engineers to define observability initiatives, designing and documenting development procedures, and enhancing existing observability data initiatives for continuous improvement and scalability. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting and determining root causes of issues, driving the implementation of data-driven monitoring strategies, and contributing to brainstorming sessions. The ideal candidate should have a passion for automation, a proven ability to leverage data analytics, and strong problem-solving skills.

The Data Reliability Engineering team is the backbone of CME Group's data operations. We focus on ensuring the resilience, performance, and integrity of our critical data pipelines and platforms. We leverage cutting-edge observability practices, data analytics, and automation to proactively identify issues, optimize performance, and maintain the highest standards of data quality. We are seeking a visionary builder passionate about leveraging data to enhance system observability and drive operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

You will join a dynamic team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of data observability within our critical infrastructure. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver ready to take ownership of complex challenges and deliver impactful solutions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Analyze requirements and collaborate with senior engineers to define and scope observability initiatives.

  • Design and document innovative development procedures for observability environments.

  • Enhance existing observability data initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and scalability.

  • Participate actively in brainstorming sessions, contributing ideas for complex problem-solving.

  • Troubleshoot and determine root causes for known issues, collaborating on solutions and verifying implementation.

  • Pioneer and deliver results in a dynamic environment, adapting seamlessly to shifting priorities.

  • Drive the implementation of data-driven monitoring strategies to improve system uptime and reliability.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for automation and a proven ability to leverage data analytics to solve complex engineering challenges.

  • Experience in a relevant field, demonstrated by a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

  • Proficiency in Python, including a strong understanding of Python ML libraries.

  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and a strong drive for automation.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

  • Familiarity with modern development tools (e.g., Jira, GIT, Jenkins, or Bamboo) is a plus.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jira, GIT, Jenkins, or Bamboo).

  • Opens source contribution in the field of study or technical expertise

CME Group is seeking skilled and experienced Consultants for a fixed term of engagement for one year. CME is committed to offering competitive compensation for our consultants that recognizes their contributions to the business. The hourly pay range is expected to be $40 - $44 per hour. The actual pay offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal consultants or employees (where relevant). Please note that while this opportunity is for a consultant role dedicated to CME, the consultant will be directly employed by a third party vendor, which would provide pay and benefits.
