Geological Engineer

In our 12 countries (Europe, Middle East, Asia) of operation, we are working on the production and distribution of low-carbon electricity, through the development of nuclear and renewable energies. We are also supporting the modernisation and development of energy grids, managing the setup and siting for new transmission and distribution networks, and using hydrogen to decarbonise the transport and industry sectors.

Assystem Türkiye, is renowned for working with the public and private sectors. Specializing in ESIA studies, site investigations, and laboratory research, the company offers vital site supervision owners and lenders engineering services. Notably, Assystem Türkiye plays a pivotal role in major projects like power generation, and the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geological Engineer to join our team in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting on-site soil investigations and preparing detailed reports. You will collaborate closely with engineers and geologists to efficiently and effectively address project challenges.

 

• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines when planning and executing work.
• Conduct field inspections and implement exploration and testing programs, including soil and rock drilling, test pitting, sampling, and geologic mapping.
• Perform site characterizations and assess geotechnical hazards.
• Evaluate subsurface conditions, including soil and rock properties and geomechanical characteristics, and interpret field data.
• Analyze field and laboratory test results to develop parameters for technical assessments.
• Perform design calculations and feasibility studies to develop effective solutions.
• Plan, design, and oversee the construction of dams, tunnels, caverns, foundations, slopes, and earth-retaining structures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, technical design standards, and industry guidelines.
• Prepare technical reports, including geotechnical data reports, baseline reports, feasibility studies, design evaluations, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Provide field engineering support during project construction.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness in all project work.
• Lead and mentor junior staff while managing projects and tasks effectively.
• Develop engineering project proposals and maintain client communication.
• Manage time and budgets efficiently.
• Participate in professional development and training activities.

• A bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering (an MSc in Geological Engineering is preferable).
• A minimum of 5 years of site experience in soil investigations.
• Experience with local and major international codes.
• Proficiency in geological modeling and numerical analysis software, such as DIPS, UNWEDGE, SWEDGE, UDEC, FLAC, Plaxis 2D/3D, RS2/RS3, Leapfrog, GeoStudio (e.g., SEEP/W and SLOPE/W), and gINT.
• Proficiency in standard office software.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to take responsibility in challenging projects.
• A team player with a result-oriented mindset.
• Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally.
