Summary

Room 8 studio seeks a Middle Layout Artist for trailer production to support the creation of high-quality in-game cinematic sequences. The role involves ensuring asset consistency between animation DCC and the game engine (UE5.4), acting as a point of contact for cinematic status updates, and optimizing settings for playback. Responsibilities include re-purposing assets (characters, environments, vehicles, audio), adding metadata to animation assets, exposing animation moments as events, and identifying/communicating animation issues. Strong organizational skills, communication, and proficiency in MotionBuilder and UE5.4 are essential. Experience in the game industry or post-production, knowledge of QA processes, and a passion for gaming are advantageous.

 is looking for a Layout Artist to support the creation of high-quality in-game cinematic sequences on a story-driven adventure.

The layout artist plays a vital supporting role within the animation team. They ensure that all assets used in animations and cinematics are set up consistently and correctly, maintaining a 1:1 parity between the animator's work in the DCC and the game engine throughout production. Additionally, the layout artist serves as a key point of contact to keep the status of all cinematics up to date, ensuring that the cinematics team consistently receives ready-to-work scenes and assets.

Superpowers
you have are

  • Knowledge of Motion Builder and UE 5.4;
  • Upper-Intermediate+ English (written and spoken) for seamless collaboration and documentation;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively;
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset to work in dynamic, creative environments.

  • Knowledge of QA processes and technical animation workflows;
  • Previous experience in the game industry or post-production;
  • Passion for gaming, with an understanding of modern gaming aesthetics and trends, particularly in high-quality, visually appealing games.

As a part of Room 8
studio, you will

  • Re-purpose assets from various departments for animation and cinematics, including:
    • Characters and creatures;
    • Environments and props;
    • Vehicles;
    • Audio elements;
    • Reference materials.
  • Perform engine-side and DCC (Digital Content Creation) tasks, such as:
    • Optimizing settings for cinematic and animation playback;
    • Adding meta-data to animation assets to enable cine-gameplay handshaking;
    • Exposing animation moments as events for use by design, audio, and other teams;
    • Identifying and communicating issues and errors within animation content and solving as directed.
