Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg is seeking a Maintenance Planning Intern for a 6-month full-time position starting in February/March 2025. The intern will support the Body in White (BiW) Maintenance Team, contributing to both current and future production projects. Responsibilities include reviewing equipment documentation, spare parts lists, and maintenance plans; improving spare parts identification and standardization; finding efficient preventive maintenance solutions; and supporting corrective and preventive maintenance scheduling. The intern will work with various internal departments and external suppliers, utilizing skills in project steering and communication within multidisciplinary teams. The role involves hands-on experience with maintenance management, body shop automation equipment, and vehicle production processes. The ideal candidate is a self-driven student studying Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Good To Have:
  • AutoCAD, Catia, EAM systems knowledge
  • Experience with purchasing processes
  • Understanding of CMMS
  • Problem-solving skills
Must Have:
  • Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering degree
  • English/German (C1)
  • Proficient in MS Office

The Body in White (BiW) Maintenance Team is looking for a Maintenance Planning Intern to support our current and new production projects. You will be involved in short- and long-term tasks including current vehicle production as well as future equipment installations.

Your focus will be supporting the Equipment Engineers in maintenance planning with their production technologies that build the body in white. This means reviewing equipment documentation, spare parts lists, maintenance plans, and work instructions. We are always looking for improvements in spare parts identification and standardization, finding effective and efficient preventive maintenance solutions, and achieving the best equipment availability in the complete Tesla global manufacturing network.

You will learn the general process of how a maintenance department works as well as how a car production is planned and runs.

Additionally, you will get a deep insight in our equipment maintenance by doing customer focused projects that support the line maintenance and operations teams.

As a member of our team, you will be also responsible for the project steering in a green field plant by using your communication skills to work successfully and effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

We are looking for a self-driven student that is dedicated, motivated and good at handling multiple tasks in a high-paced and fast changing environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Learn how to check spare part lists for economical, reasonable and lead time point of views
  • Learn to adjust spare part lists with suppliers and engineers
  • Learn to upload and maintain spare part lists in the Tesla CMMS
  • Support the team with purchasing processes of spare equipment and building of asset bill of materials
  • Learning about the process of maintenance management, body shop automation equipment and vehicle production
  • Support by planning and scheduling corrective and preventive maintenance activities by task and priority level
  • Support in managing communications between internal maintenance departments and maintaining & updating the internal ME system
  • Analyzing and communicating equipment faults from Scada to suppliers and engineers
What You’ll Bring
  • Studying towards a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering
  • Written and verbal communication in English and/or German (C1 or higher)
  • Knowledge of EDV Systems (Power Point, Excel, MS Project)
  • Knowledge in use of AutoCAD, Catia and EAM Systems
  • Flexibility to adapt to new circumstances and new ways of working
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and make suggestions for increasing the effectiveness in the maintenance department
  • Willingness to learn new methods, procedures and techniques
