Microsoft's Azure Data Warehouse Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) team seeks a Software Engineer II to design and implement BCDR solutions for the next-generation Data Warehouses within the Microsoft Fabric offering. Responsibilities include designing and implementing software components, participating in code reviews and design reviews, assisting customers, ensuring service reliability, and working with a team to deliver high-quality features on time and meeting performance, scalability, and compliance requirements. The role involves problem-solving for mission-critical services and implementing preventative measures. Experience with distributed systems, object-oriented programming, and data structures & algorithms are crucial.

​​Azure DataWarehouse Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (DW BCDR) engineering team is looking to hire a talented and highly motivated Software Engineer II to be on point for designing and implementing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions for the next generation of DataWarehouses in the Microsoft Fabric offering for customers across the globe. Our team needs an engineer with in-depth knowledge and experience in analyzing requirements, designing, developing and releasing services or products to end users. As an engineer on our team, you will help design & implement software components, participate in code reviews, design reviews and assist customers as needed to be able to leverage the service and keep the service running.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications 

  • ​​Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.​

 

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
    • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in object-oriented languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in object-oriented languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java or Python
  • Solid programming experience with Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Solid technical and design skills towards problem solving w.r. to Scale and Optimization.
  • Ability to learn and grasps concepts quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Remarkable problem-solving skills and outstanding drive for results
  • Self-starter, who proactively identifies problems and drives for resolution
  • Experience in building, shipping and operating reliable, distributed systems software​

 

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
