About GameChanger:

We believe in the life changing impact youth sports have on and off the field. Sports encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence – important life lessons that have the power to propel our youth toward meaningful futures. We recognize that without coaches, parents, and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. By building the first and best place to experience the youth sports moments important to our community, we are helping families elevate the next generation through youth sports.

So if you love sports and their community building potential, or building cool products is your sport, GameChanger is the team for you. We are a remote first, dynamic tech company based in New York City, and we are solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.

The Position:

The Gameday team is paving the way for all video experiences for Baseball and Softball in the GameChanger app. Providing a stable and feature rich streaming platform for coaches and parents, and a delightful viewing experience for those who can’t make it to the game, the Gameday team is constantly improving what has quickly become a key part of what users love about GameChanger.

As a Staff iOS Software Engineer, you will use modern tools to develop features in our native iOS application and across the stack. You will build engaging user-facing features by contributing your expertise, writing code, and making architectural decisions on a team of Product Managers, Designers, QA Analysts, and Engineers. You will contribute to the engineering organization and improve the product beyond the scope of just your team. You will report to one of our Product Engineering Managers.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and maintain features for business-critical product areas including live video streaming, scorekeeping, fan experiences, and team management.

  • Work with engineers across the engineering organization on important decisions about how our applications are architected and built.

  • Drive technical design discussions across the organization and provide guidance to teammates on best practices.

  • Team up with designers, testers, and product managers to find the best solutions for our users.

  • Mentor mid-level and senior engineers, developing their technical skills and cultivate a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Evaluate new technologies that can improve the effectiveness of our engineering processes and guide innovation.

  • Promote responsible engineering practices across the entire organization and champion quality and scalability.

Who You Are:

  • Mastery of software engineering fundamentals.

  • Experience shipping beautiful, high-quality apps, at scale.

  • Experience shipping product on team of passionate engineers, or knowledge of what it takes to foster that environment

  • Passion and experience working with the latest iOS tech.

  • Team-first mentality, with a desire to work in a cross-functional product team with diverse peers

  • Experience influencing technical decision-making across an engineering organization

  • Excellent collaboration skills, someone who excels at explaining technical concepts across audiences

Experience:

  • Our apps are written in Swift and have a Reactive architecture using technologies like Compose, RxSwift, Realm, and Swift Composable Architecture (TCA).

  • Your team also does Android development in Kotlin, so having background there would be a bonus, but is not required.

  • Our backend APIs are built with TypeScript, Node.js, Redis, and PostgreSQL and run in AWS. It's not required that you know these.

  • Familiarity with streaming and video technology

Perks:

  • Work remotely throughout the US* or from our well-furnished, modern office in Manhattan, NY.

  • Unlimited vacation policy.

  • Paid volunteer opportunities.

  • Technology stipend - $4,000 every 2 years after your start to make sure you have the latest and greatest technology

  • WFH stipend - $500 annually to make your WFH situation comfortable.

  • Learning stipend - $500 annually towards continued development

  • Monthly physical, mental, wellness & learning stipend offered through Holisticly

  • Monthly lifestyle stipend offered through Fringe

  • Full health benefits - medical, dental, vision, prescription, FSA, HRA, HSA, and coverage for family/dependents.

  • Retirement savings - Traditional and Roth 401K plans are offered through Vanguard, with an immediate company match.

  • Life insurance - basic life, supplemental life, and dependent life.

  • Disability leave - short-term disability and long-term disability.

  • Company paid parental leave - up to 20 weeks for birthing parents and up to 12 weeks for non-birthing parents.
