Position Overview

Spend your days making a difference, not just working for a living. At Diligent, we build Security, Risk Management, Compliance, and Audit software that helps uncover fraud, waste, environmental risks, and abuse in organizations. Our collaborative R&D teams build and scale a SaaS platform using AWS technologies—delivering AI-powered solutions that support Modern Governance and drive meaningful impact.

As a Staff Software Engineer in Test, you’ll take ownership of quality assurance across an entire program, spanning multiple Scrum teams and involving both QA analysts and engineers. Your responsibility goes beyond manual and automated testing—you will define and drive quality across the full development lifecycle, advocate for shift-left principles, and enable rapid, safe delivery. In addition to your test engineering and automation expertise, you will champion AI-augmented quality practices, leveraging modern tools and governance principles to enhance testing coverage, efficiency, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead testing strategy and execution across complex microservices and frontend/backend architectures (AWS, .NET,  Angular, APIs, etc.)
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust test automation frameworks, integrating seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines (Playwright, AWS CDK), with a DevSecOps mindset
  • Pioneer the use of AI-driven testing solutions—evaluate and implement intelligent test generation, defect prediction, and adaptive test strategies using LLMs and other AI models
  • Apply responsible AI practices by embedding bias detection, safety validation, and explainability checks into QA processes and automation
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure quality is built-in from the start, promoting a shift-left mindset and influencing engineering practices
  • Use observability tools and data analytics to identify systemic issues and improve performance, coverage, and resilience
  • Lead test strategy reviews, architecture discussions, and mentor engineers in automation, AI-enhanced QA workflows, and testing best practices
  • Stay up to date with AI trends, tools, and regulations; adapt test strategies accordingly to support compliance, security, and innovation

Required Experience/Skills

  • 5+ years in software engineering in test roles within commercial software environments
  • Strong expertise in TypeScript, Playwright, or a similar end-to-end testing tool, with a willingness to develop deep expertise in Playwright
  • Proven experience with API and backend testing, including microservices and monolithic systems
  • Experience designing automation frameworks and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
  • Familiarity with AWS serverless services and modern DevOps practices (IaC, Docker, observability tools)
  • Exposure to security principles in delivery pipelines (IAM, secrets management, DevSecOps)
  • Strong understanding of AI in software engineering, such as:
Using LLMs to assist with test generation and defect triage
Embedding monitoring and validation around AI components
Designing QA strategies for AI-infused systems (e.g., prompt testing, model input/output verification)
  • Exceptional communication skills and experience mentoring or leading others in a quality or test leadership capacity
