The artist will contribute creative ideas and solutions to storytelling challenges, ensuring deadlines are met and materials align with production requirements.
Must have:
  • Proven experience as a Storyboard/Animatic Artist in animation.
  • Excellent drawing skills adaptable to the project's visual style.
  • Strong understanding of cinematic techniques like camera angles.
  • Ability to interpret scripts and translate them visually.
  • Proficient with storyboard and animatics software.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Creative thinker able to solve storytelling challenges.
Good to have:
  • Degree in Animation, Film, or a related field.

Job Title: Storyboard/Animatic Artist

Location: Flexible (with the ability to work remotely and/or work from our studio in Farnham)

Type of Position: Contract (6 weeks)

About The Project:

We are embarking on the production of an animated series pilot that aims to blend innovative storytelling with cutting-edge animation techniques. Our objective is to deliver a pilot that not only captures the imagination of viewers and industry stakeholders but also lays the groundwork for a successful series commission. Our project seeks a talented Storyboard/Animatic Artist who possesses a unique blend of artistic skill, storytelling prowess, and a keen eye for cinematic detail.

Job Summary:

The Storyboard/Animatic Artist will be instrumental in visualizing the narrative of our pilot episode, transforming scripts into compelling visual stories. This role requires close collaboration with the Director and the creative team to ensure the storyboard aligns with the project's vision, enhancing the storytelling through dynamic visual sequences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translating scripts into vivid storyboards that convey the narrative, emotion, and action of the pilot episode.

  • Working closely with the Director to develop the visual style of the storyboards, ensuring consistency with the overall vision of the project.

  • Creating detailed animatics from storyboards, incorporating timing and basic sound elements to pre-visualize scenes.

  • Participating in brainstorming sessions with the creative team to refine narrative elements and visual storytelling techniques.

  • Revising storyboards and animatics based on feedback from the Director and other team members.

  • Maintaining clear communication with the production team to ensure deadlines are met and materials are in line with production requirements.

  • Contributing to the creative process with original ideas and solutions to storytelling challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Storyboard Artist or Animatic Artist in the animation industry, with a portfolio showcasing a strong understanding of visual storytelling.

  • Excellent drawing skills with the ability to adapt to the project's visual style.

  • Strong understanding of cinematic techniques, including camera angles, composition, and pacing.

  • Ability to interpret scripts and translate them into visual narratives effectively.

  • Proficient with storyboard and animatics software (e.g., Storyboard Pro, Adobe After Effects).

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with directors and other creative team members.

  • Creative thinker with the ability to solve storytelling and visual challenges.

  • Preferred: Degree in Animation, Film, or a related field.
