Job Description

As a Strategic Investment Manager, you will be responsible for leading projects related to business development, monitoring the Japanese markets for gaming, animation and entertainment trends, evaluating investment and partnership opportunities, and driving the development of new opportunities and businesses. You will work in a team of high-calibre executives and provide game-changing strategy and out-of-the-box thinking to senior leaders. You will also be responsible for planning and managing business incubation, driving product innovation, developing and executing go-to-market plans, and making key investment decisions.
Must have:
  • More than 3 years of experience in video game, strategy consulting, investment banking, PE/VC and related Internet industry
  • Strategic visions, business insights and in-depth knowledge of the gaming/media/entertainment industry
  • Ability to interpret data and identify emerging market trends and business opportunities
  • Self-starter, comfortable with uncertainty, and ability to drive to answers through disciplined work
  • Effective team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Entrepreneurial spirit

  • Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N1 and above preferred)

Responsibilities:

Tencent Games was established in 2003. We are a leading global platform for game development, operations and publishing, and the largest online game community in China.

As a Strategic Investment Manager, you will:

1.Work directly with senior management across global and domestic games markets.
2.Lead projects related to our business development independently.

3. Monitor Japanese markets including gaming, animation and entertainment sectors, identify emerging industry/technology trends.
3.Evaluate Japan gaming investment and partnership opportunities.
4.More importantly, drive development of new opportunities and incubate new businesses.
5.Work in a team with high-calibre executives previously from top-tier consultancy firms and investment banks.
6.You will be responsible for supporting decision-makings for executives and leaders of business groups.
7.Provide game changing strategy and inspire out-of-the-box thinking to senior leaders.
8.Plan and manage business incubation, drive product innovation and new partnerships, develop and execute go-to-market plan.
9.Make key investment decisions.
 

Requirements:

1.Have more than 3 years of work experience in video game, strategy consulting, investment banking, PE/VC and related Internet industry
2.Demonstrate strategic visions, business insights and in-depth knowledge of the gaming/media/entertainment industry, and other related sectors (preferably a gamer!).
3.Ability in interpretation of data and identify emerging market trends and business opportunities.
4.Must be a self-starter, comfortable with uncertainty, and ability to drive to answers through disciplined work, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams.
5.Are effective team players with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6.Exceptional proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint; working knowledge of statistics and analysis packages.
7.Fluent in English and Mandarin as working language, Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N1and above preferred) is highly desired but not a must.
8.Have an entrepreneurial spirit.
