Job Description

As a Translation Lead at PTW, you'll plan and manage translation projects, working with Senior Project Managers to define project scopes and develop schedules. You'll oversee all project operations, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining client communication. Responsibilities include team management (training, quality review, conflict resolution), financial control (project GM, invoicing), and adherence to company policies. The role requires excellent business software knowledge, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude. Experience in the video game industry is a plus. This is a full-time, on-site position in Braga, Portugal.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Planning

  • Works with the Senior Project Manager to define the project's scope, reviewing workload information provided by the customer and available in tools.
  • Develops a project schedule that effectively allocates available resources.
  • Reviews the project schedule with Management and assists in securing the necessary resources for the successful execution of client tasks and other projects using the required tools and software.
  • Identifies potential risks and escalates them to Management.

Production

  • Maintains a strong working relationship with the client and establishes a clear communication workflow to keep them informed about progress, utilizing tools like email and Teams.
  • Oversees all operations involved in the smooth and successful completion of each project phase, ensuring tasks are delivered on time.
  • Shares resource requirements with Management and keeps all project records up to date, reporting on projected and actual workloads based on client-specific trackers.

Team Management

  • Maintains discipline by ensuring teams adhere to company policies and act appropriately within company premises, while proactively managing different personalities to prevent and address conflicts.
  • Trains new staff members as needed and regularly reviews the quality of work to ensure it meets required standards.
  • Provides support to ensure the team's working conditions are adequate and collaborates with other departments to ensure capacity plans are in place.

Financial Control

  • Together with the management team takes responsibility for the GM of the projects.
  • Has ownership of the invoicing process for the projects.

Other

  • Responsive in email and chat communications, ensuring clarity in all messages, while building effective relationships with internal teams.
  • Adheres to company Security, Confidentiality, Health and Safety, IT, and HR procedures, ensuring team compliance.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of ethical behavior and business practices, ensuring personal and team conduct aligns with the organization’s values and standards.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills (preferred)

  • Must have the Right to Work in Portugal
  • Experience in video games industry is a plus
  • Experience managing translation projects
  • Excellent knowledge of business software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to develop new ways to improve operations and to create opportunities
  • Good organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Keeps a “can do” attitude and positive thinking

Qualifications

  • Ideally translation or language-related BA studies or other European equivalents.
