Job Description

The Branded Content Writer will join the SKM Lab team and work closely with Brand Strategy and Account Management teams to develop concepts for pitches and with the Client Services team to execute campaigns across various platforms. Responsibilities include crafting copy for different media, iterating based on feedback, and collaborating with internal teams to create effective content based on client KPIs and maintain theSkimm's brand standards. The role also involves staying updated on industry trends and contributing to creative brainstorms. This position supports the sales team in creating custom branded content and reports to the Senior Manager, Branded Content.
Must have:
  • 3-5 years of experience in digital media or marketing.
  • Experience writing articles of varying length and creating content for social media.
  • Excellent copywriting skills.
  • Ability to blend a brand's messaging with our editorial voice.
  • A strong pulse on web, social, video, and audio trends.
  • Knowledge of theSkimm and appreciation of its mission.
  • A self-starter and a team player.
  • Attention to detail.

We’re hiring a full-time Branded Content Writer to join the SKM Lab team (theSkimm’s Creative Studio).

About our team and what we’ll build together

The SKM Lab team is home to writers, editors, and producers who communicate our partners’ messaging through theSkimm’s ecosystem as well as on their owned and operated channels. Our partners are upstarts, Fortune 500 companies, and anything in between.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative writer who’s ready to jump right in, think outside the box, and produce un-ignorable work for our partners. They’ll work closely with our Brand Strategy and Account Management teams to develop concepts for pitches and with our Client Services team to execute best-in-class campaigns across a variety of platforms — including newsletter, social, web, audio, text messaging, and events.

This writer position will support the broader sales team to create custom branded content. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Branded Content on the SKM Lab team.

How you’ll contribute to our mission

  • Leverage assets from theSkimm’s brand partners to craft copy for newsletter, web, audio, social, video, SMS, and experiential events that our target audience will look forward to consuming.
  • Iterate thoughtfully based on feedback from internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Partner with the Client Services, Account Management, Brand Strategy, Sales, and cross-functional teams to pitch and create effective content based on client KPIs and expectations — while maintaining theSkimm's brand and editorial standards.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends and innovations, platform best practices, and what theSkimm’s competitors (and other cool brands!) are making.
  • Prepare for and bring fresh ideas to creative brainstorms.

Note: The salary compensation for this role is $70,000 to $85,000. Individual pay within the compensation range for this business unit specific role is determined based on a variety of factors including experience, scope of the role, capabilities to perform the role, education and training, as well as business and company performance.
