Job Description

The Cloud Engineer will maintain the Azure environment for clients, implementing configuration changes and troubleshooting issues. They will provide recommendations for platform improvement and present them to the client. Key responsibilities include designing, documenting, and implementing cloud projects, providing proactive support, troubleshooting issues, documenting resolutions, preparing change requests, maintaining the environment, assisting with project implementation, monitoring infrastructure performance, and collaborating with internal teams and clients. The role requires expertise in Azure technologies and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role is pivotal in providing support in implementing configuration changes, assisting in troubleshooting client issues, providing recommendations on improving the current platform and presenting the recommendations and reports to the client with the architecture team when required.
Must have:
  • Manage and troubleshoot Azure Virtual Machines and networking.
  • Troubleshoot App Services, App Gateways, AKS, ACR, and ACI.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Azure Front Door and Traffic Manager.
  • Write PowerShell scripts and KQL queries.
  • Good understanding of developing Azure solutions.
Good to have:
  • Certifications related to Azure, AWS and GCP.
  • NV1 or baseline clearance.
  • Knowledge of IaC such as Terraform.
  • Linux skills desirable.

Role Overview

Tesserent is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer for Azure technologies. Cloud Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the current environment for our clients. This role is pivotal in providing support in implementing configuration changes, assisting in troubleshooting client issues, providing recommendations on improving the current platform and presenting the recommendations and reports to the client with the architecture team when required.

Accountabilities

  • Work on designing, documenting and implementing various cloud projects for existing and/or new customers

  • Provide proactive support to ensure the customer’s environment is running smoothly and assist in resolving issues by adhering to customer SLAs

  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to cloud infrastructure, applications, and services, ensuring timely resolution to minimize impact on business operations.

  • Document incidents, resolutions, and best practices to build a knowledge base and facilitate continuous improvement.

  • Raise required changes and prepare for change approval as per customer request

  • Proactively maintain the customer environment from a monitoring, backup and patching perspective

  • Assist with project implementation, updating as-built and design documentation

  • Monitor the health and performance of cloud infrastructure and services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, security and PaaS services

  • Collaborate with internal team and client to address technical issues and requirements

  • Stay up to date on the latest Microsoft Azure features, updates, and best practices to serve as a subject matter expert to clients and internal teams.

  • Ready to engage and support other team members by learning new technologies and skills.

  • Take part in on-call support roster

Competencies

  • Hands-on experience in managing and maintaining large Cloud environments

  • Experience in managing and troubleshooting Azure Virtual Machines, Cloud networking, hybrid connectivity, and Azure Storage

  • Experience in managing and troubleshooting App Services, Azure App Gateways, AKS, ACR and ACI

  • Experience in managing and troubleshooting Azure Front Door, Traffic Manager, and Managed DB services

  • Experience in managing and troubleshooting Azure firewall, Defender for Cloud, Advisor, and well-architected framework

  • Experience migrating on-premises workload to Azure

  • Fluency in writing PowerShell scripts and KQL queries

  • Good understanding and experience in developing and delivering Azure solutions

  • Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert

  • Knowledge of IaC such as Terraform

  • Linux skills desirable

  • Excellent written and verbal skills to clearly explain concepts to diverse stakeholders

  • Able to identify leads with the Sales team and assist with the development of those leads to attain further opportunities and ongoing work.

  • Strong understanding of commercial arrangements for small to large projects and able to demonstrate value of service offerings to clients.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Certifications related to Azure, AWS and GCP

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain concepts.

  • Open-minded and forward-thinking in terms of vision for the business and team culture.

  • Ability to work as a team with decisions made to support moving toward common goals.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Take ownership and show initiative of the assigned tasks

  • Engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders
