Job Description

As a Database Sales Specialist Manager, you will lead a team responsible for growing the Database business by building and expanding relationships with new and existing customers. You will build relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Field Sales, Customer Engineering, Solution Architecture, Product) and customers, supporting the team to demonstrate product functionality and close business. You will support a positive and high-performing team culture, identifying innovative ways to multiply the team's impact. You'll also be responsible as the Sales Specialist for a sub-region, driving database business to customers there. Responsibilities include leading a team, fostering a positive team culture, developing go-to-market plans, partnering with internal teams, and defining database penetration strategies. The role requires strong leadership, sales, and strategic planning skills.
Must have:
  • 12+ years sales experience in enterprise software or cloud
  • Leadership experience in quota-carrying teams
  • Promoting data analytics/management technologies
  • Team management, mentorship, and coaching
  • Go-to-market strategy planning & execution
Good to have:
  • Cross-functional team influence
  • People & business management expertise
  • Experience with Google Cloud database offerings

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12 years of experience in a sales role in the enterprise software or cloud space.
  • Experience with leadership within a quota-carrying team, such as people management, team lead, mentorship, or coaching.
  • Experience promoting data analytics or data management technologies to clients.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams to impact business goals, customer experience, and expansion.
  • Experience with people and business management, supporting career development of a high performing sales team and business growth.
  • Experience planning and organizing go-to-market strategies, business programs, and sales activity.
  • Experience with database technologies and knowledge of Google Cloud database offerings (e.g. Cloud SQL, Spanner, AlloyDB, etc.).
  • Knowledge of products, solutions, and market trends, with the ability to analyze sales performance data or market changes to drive strategic direction.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, presentation, active listening, and program management skills.

As a Database Sales Specialist Manager, you will lead a team responsible for growing the Database business by building and expanding relationships with new and existing customers. You will build relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Field Sales, Customer Engineering, Solution Architecture, Product) and customers, as well as support the team to do the same. You will ensure the team has the necessary skills to demonstrate product functionality and comprehensive overviews of key business use cases, and close business. You will support a positive and high-performing team culture, while identifying innovative ways to multiply the impact of the team as a whole to drive overall value for Google Cloud. In addition, you will also be responsible as the Sales Specialist for a sub-region and drive database business to customers in that sub-region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of database sales specialists and have ownership for a sales territory to ensure sufficient coverage across the region.
  • Foster a positive and high-performing team culture, supporting the team to drive pipeline, manage business cycles from lead generation to customer onboarding, and meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Develop and own the go-to-market plan to scale and impact business in key areas, including business growth, new customer growth, customer expansion, and customer referenceability.
  • Partner with Field Sales, Marketing, Customer Engineering, Customer Success, Channels, Product, and Engineering to understand customers, impact messaging and collateral, and provide a positive prospect and customer experience.
  • Work with the assigned sub-region’s leadership team to define a databases penetration and ramp strategy, build relationships with key customers and influence GCP database adoption in those accounts.
