Description
Join Pipeworks Studios as a Game Designer III, where you'll take ownership of both feature design and problem-solving for an immersive, cinematic action-adventure title in UE5. As a senior leader, you'll not only refine gameplay systems and content but also pitch and implement new features that elevate the player experience.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned industry professional with a minimum of 8 years of experience and multiple AAA or AA shipped titles. Additionally, experience as a lead, and experience tackling complex design challenges with confidence are critical to this role. You’ll collaborate with world-class developers, engage with stakeholders, and drive innovation, all while enjoying the flexibility of remote work or our Eugene, Oregon studio.

Day To Day
Responsibilities
- Act as an individual contributor to collaboratively create, communicate, and manage tasks for yourself and the project team
- Drive design, implementation, and polish directly within UE5
- Collaborate with engineers, artists, and other staff both at Pipeworks, and directly with the client, to ensure the successful implementation of game mechanics and features throughout the game
- Communicate with external stakeholders, including clients, per project requirements
- Help identify ways to grow the creativity and efficiency of the design team
- Possible travel, per project requirements
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Must Haves
- Extensive and demonstrable Unreal experience (UE5 preferred)
- 3rd person action-adventure experience or equivalent
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing complicated projects
- Current/up-to-date experience with source control solutions
- Familiarity w/ Jira, Confluence, or equivalent task tracking and collaborative environments
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both written and verbal
- Show exceptional deductive reasoning skills
- Work with and lead teams, including taking direction and inspiring others
- Assist in solving problems in resourceful ways
- Organize and communicate complex systems and data with an attention to detail
- Work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Be flexible to changing priorities
- Ability to lead teams and 3rd parties remotely
Nice-To-Have Skills
- Shipped games on multiple platforms
Education & Experience Required
- 8+ years relevant work experience in Game Design
- 2-4+ AAA or AA commercial titles shipped as lead or key contributor
- Unreal 5 Experience
