This role is for individuals early in their careers, with some practical experience, who are eager to learn and develop their skills through hands-on involvement in real research studies.
Must have:
  • Academic background in UX, psychology, sociology, HCI, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated interest in games and player experiences
  • Basic understanding of research methods
  • Proactive and curious mindset
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with gaming communities, genres, or playstyles

Your Mission
At Paradox Interactive, we are committed to creating games that are not only innovative and entertaining, but deeply resonate with the players who engage with them. As a Junior Games User Researcher, you will join a team dedicated to uncovering meaningful insights about player behavior, preferences, and experiences — and applying those insights to make better design decisions.

This role is for individuals early in their careers, with some practical experience, who are eager to learn and develop their skills through hands-on involvement in real research studies. You will work closely with experienced researchers and gain valuable exposure to the practices and workflows of games user research.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the planning and execution of player-focused research studies. Under supervision, you will:

  • Assist in preparing interview guides, surveys, and other research materials
  • Contribute to data collection by taking structured notes, observing player behavior, or helping moderate sessions
  • Participate in pilot studies and hands-on fieldwork
  • Help organize, sort, and code qualitative data
  • Support the preparation of preliminary findings and insights
  • Document research outcomes clearly and accurately

Your Profile

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual with:

  • An academic background in UX, psychology, sociology, human-computer interaction, or a related discipline
  • A demonstrated interest in games and player experiences
  • A basic understanding of research methods, including interviews, surveys, and data analysis
  • A proactive and curious mindset, with a desire to develop as a user researcher
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with gaming communities, genres, or playstyles is considered a plus

Practical information
Scope: Temporary (12 months)
Reports to: User Research manager
Location: This position is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
Remote status: Office-based
